TV-Series
Description
Barrot is a priest and scientist who serves as a high-ranking figure within the Temple, the organization that controls the world through the Fractale System. He holds the position of second-in-command to the Archpriestess Moeran, to whom he is also nominally married. At 48 years old, Barrot is primarily responsible for managing the Temple's cloning project, which is dedicated to creating and raising clones of a girl named Phryne to serve as the key to restarting the Fractale System.

Barrot's personality is defined by a disturbing combination of scientific obsession and predatory behavior. He presents himself as a dedicated researcher committed to saving the Fractale System, but this veneer of professionalism masks a deeply perverted and narcissistic sociopath. He views himself as a savior of the world for his immoral research, taking great satisfaction in his own perceived importance and genius. His true nature is that of a predator who uses his position of authority to systematically abuse the Phryne clones under his care, treating them not as people but as objects for his scientific and personal gratification.

Barrot's primary motivation is the successful reactivation of the Fractale System, a goal he pursues with fanatical dedication. To achieve this, he oversees the creation of hundreds of thousands of identical clones, all bearing the name Phryne, on whom he performs experiments to determine their suitability as the key. Those who do not meet the required qualifications are simply disposed of. His scientific drive, however, becomes inextricably linked with his own perverse desires, as he personally uses many of these clones for his own sexual pleasure under the guise of research.

In the story, Barrot acts as the central human antagonist, directly opposing the protagonists. He orders a widespread search for a specific Phryne clone who has escaped from the Temple, showing a willingness to terrorize innocent villages and consort with criminals to recapture her. When he retrieves her, he forces her to submit to a gynecological examination to confirm her virginity, threatening the life of her friend Clain to ensure her compliance. He later proudly boasts of having raped Phryne himself, describing her as a fine vintage he had matured, all in front of Clain and her companion Nessa. His actions serve as the primary catalyst for the final confrontation.

Barrot's key relationship is with Phryne, whom he has raised since childhood. While he acts as a caretaker, claiming to be on the front lines of protecting her, this relationship is a grotesque parody of fatherly affection. He is frequently shown groping her, embracing her, and smelling her, demonstrating a possessive and sexualized obsession. He declares that Phryne belongs to him alone. He also has a professional relationship with the Archpriestess Moeran, though his personal feelings toward her are secondary to his research and ambitions.

Throughout the series, Barrot shows no development or redemption. He remains consistently villainous, escalating his abusive behavior as the story progresses. His arc concludes when, in a final attempt to assert his ownership over Phryne, he is stabbed by her with a knife, leading to his death.

Barrot possesses notable abilities as a scientist, having discovered the reason for the low adaptability between the Phryne clones and the original body. His role gives him significant authority within the Temple's hierarchy, allowing him to command resources and personnel in his pursuit of Phryne. His true power, however, lies in the psychological control he exerts over his victims and the institutional protection his position provides for his horrific actions.
