TV-Series
Description
Maiko Fujishima is a student at Yamaboshi High School and serves as the representative for Class 1-C, a position she holds with a notable degree of authority and competence. She comes from a background of some influence, as she is the daughter of a high-ranking police officer, which contributes to her natural air of leadership and respect among her peers.

On the surface, Fujishima embodies the ideal student, being intelligent, mature, and well-respected by both classmates and teachers. However, this public persona masks a more eccentric and unconventional personality that emerges in private. She possesses a deviant and perverted side, often manifesting in a bizarre sense of humor that others frequently fail to appreciate or understand correctly. Her most defining and openly acknowledged characteristic is her intense romantic crush on her female classmate, Iori Nagase. This infatuation is significant and she is not afraid to express it, often to Iori's considerable dismay. Fujishima fancies herself an expert on matters of the heart, referring to herself as a Missionary of Love or a God of Love, and she takes great interest in the romantic entanglements of those around her.

Her primary motivation revolves around her feelings for Iori, and she is often scheming for opportunities to be close to her. This places her in a peculiar dynamic with Taichi Yaegashi, whom she initially views as a rival for Iori's affections. Despite this rivalry, their relationship is complex and evolves throughout the story. While she may tease him and delight in his romantic failures, Fujishima has also shown a willingness to offer him wise counsel and practical assistance when he is in genuine need. For instance, she once lent her bike to Taichi so he could find and comfort a distressed Iori, acknowledging that her crush needed him more than her at that moment. She also offered him philosophical advice about the inevitability of people hurting each other in relationships, framing it as a necessary risk to repair bonds.

Fujishima plays a recurring and supportive role, often acting as an observant catalyst or assistant from outside the core group of the Cultural Research Club. While she is not a victim of the supernatural phenomena that plague the main characters, she is perceptive enough to notice their strange behavior and connect it to something otherworldly. Her authority as class representative and her connections, such as her father's police influence, occasionally provide practical help to the main cast. In later storylines, she conspires with Himeko Inaba to use her connections to deal with external threats, such as seeing that thugs who attacked the club members were thoroughly handled. In her final year, she takes on an even more active role by organizing a large-scale Couples Battle Royale event for the entire school.

Key relationships define much of her screen time. Beyond her obsession with Iori Nagase, she shares a unique bond with Himeko Inaba, with the two often devising plots together for their own purposes. Taichi Yaegashi is her acknowledged rival, but their dynamic settles into one of awkward, mutual respect. Shingo Watase, a male classmate, has a crush on her, but Fujishima largely seems unaware of or uninterested in his affections.

Over the course of the narrative, Fujishima demonstrates a subtle but clear development in her capacity for independent thought. Initially, she is a rule-abiding authority figure who obeys commands without question. However, as time passes, she learns to think for herself and stop following orders blindly. Her role also shifts from a purely external observer with a crush to a more integrated, if still peripheral, ally who actively uses her resources and cunning to support the group's well-being. While she initially antagonizes Taichi as a rival, she grows to respect him and values his friendship, even as she continues to see him as a competitor.

Her notable abilities lie not in physical prowess but in her sharp perceptiveness, leadership skills, and her strong social connections. Her ability to read people and romantic situations, which she calls her expertise as a love god, makes her a valuable source of insight. Her position as class representative gives her influence over student affairs, and her father's position as a senior police officer provides her with powerful connections that she is willing to leverage. These traits, combined with her unexpected wisdom and her delightfully perverted sense of humor, make her a distinctive and memorable figure within her community.
