Description
Nicoletta is the twenty-one-year-old protagonist of the anime. She leaves her grandparents' home in the countryside to move to Rome, where she begins working as an apprentice at the restaurant Casetta dell'Orso. Her mother, Olga, abandoned her when she was a young girl and later remarried, and Nicoletta originally travels to Rome intending to take revenge on her mother by exposing her past. However, upon entering the restaurant—a unique establishment staffed entirely by mature gentlemen who wear spectacles—she finds herself charmed by their kind smiles and warm voices, and her plans for vengeance gradually fade.
Nicoletta is a kind young woman who is eager to please those around her. She is somewhat starved of affection due to the strained and distant relationship she has with her mother. This emotional need drives much of her behavior, as she seeks connection and validation. She is determined and resilient, but also initially uncertain about her place in the world. Over the course of the story, Nicoletta develops a strong bond with Claudio, the head waiter at Casetta dell'Orso. Their relationship becomes romantic, and he serves as a mentor and source of stability for her.
Her role in the story is that of the central viewpoint character, through whom the audience experiences the daily life of the restaurant and its staff. As she becomes immersed in her work, she builds meaningful friendships with the other waiters and learns to appreciate the importance of family, both chosen and biological. Her personal growth involves moving from a desire for revenge to a genuine passion for the restaurant trade and a deeper understanding of her mother's choices. Notable abilities include her capacity for empathy, her willingness to learn the craft of hospitality, and her ability to adapt to a new environment and culture. Throughout the series, she gains confidence in herself and her skills, ultimately finding a sense of belonging and purpose in Rome.
