TV-Series
Description
Junna Daitoku is a third-year student at Chuo Tanegashima High School and a member of the school’s robotics club. Despite being the same age as her peers, she has a youthful appearance with a small stature, short purple hair, dark blue eyes, and a lightly tanned complexion. She comes from a family of karate practitioners and has been training for many years, though she lacks confidence in her abilities, currently holding a brown belt.

Personality wise, Junna is defined by profound shyness and a lack of self-esteem. She is a very timid and meek young woman who rarely speaks loudly unless she is with people she knows well. She is easily scared, prone to crying, and highly sensitive, often becoming flustered or horrified by awkward topics. Her negative self-perception is a major hurdle; she believes she is not skilled at karate and tends to give in to pressure because she fears being disliked by others. When she does open up to someone, she reveals a pleasant, kind-hearted, and protective nature.

Junna’s central motivation and primary conflict stem from a deep-seated phobia of robots. This fear originates from a traumatic childhood incident where one of her grandfather`s robots fell on her, nearly crushing her. Following this accident, her grandfather, Tetsuharu Fujita, became cold and distant out of guilt. Junna misinterpreted this distance, believing he was angry at her for damaging his beloved robot, which deepened her trauma and led to an eleven-year estrangement between them. Her initial reason for joining the robotics club is not passion but simply having nothing better to do, and she frequently considers quitting due to her fear.

Within the story, Junna plays a key role as the motion capture model for the club’s robots, using her karate knowledge to create realistic movement data. She later takes on the significant responsibility of operating the Laser Gun, which serves as the energy feeder for the GunBuild robots. Her role becomes critical during the final battle where she fights alongside the resistance.

Her relationships with other club members are central to her growth. She becomes friends with Kaito Yashio through his encouragement, which helps her join the club. She is often baffled by the hot-blooded and flamboyant personality of Akiho Senomiya, yet the two get along well and Akiho is instrumental in helping her overcome her fears. Junna is very kind to the frail genius programmer Kona Furugoori, though she is also the primary victim of Kona's perverted comments, which leave her flustered. Her relationship with her grandfather, Tetsuharu Fujita, is the most significant. After he collapses and is hospitalized, Junna musters the courage to confront her past. By finding an old photograph of herself laughing with her grandfather and a robot, she finally understands that his anger was never directed at her, but at himself. This realization allows her to reconcile with him, overcome her phobia, and become more proactive.

Junna experiences significant development throughout the series. After reconciling with her grandfather, she gains a new, more positive attitude towards robots. However, this progress is tested when her distraction during a test operation causes the Gunvarrel Unit 2 to fall and seriously injure their friend Subaru Hidaka. This event plunges her back into a state of intense guilt, mirroring the heartache her grandfather once felt, and leads to the club’s temporary dissolution. This second major failure forces her to confront her crippling self-blame. Ultimately, she gathers the courage to publicly apologize to Subaru, demonstrating her growth from a timid girl who avoids conflict to someone who can take responsibility for her actions. Her notable abilities, beyond her karate skills, lie in her hidden resilience and her capacity to face her deepest fears and forgive herself.
