Description
Emerald functions as an antagonist in the 2021 film *Ryoma! The Prince of Tennis*, operating within a street tennis gang under Wolf's command. The group's harassment of Sakuno Ryūzaki incites Ryoma Echizen to challenge them to a tennis match. A collision of tennis balls during their intense encounter triggers a temporal disturbance, propelling Ryoma and Sakuno back to the timeline of Nanjirō Echizen's final championship match.
In this past era, Emerald and the gang conspire to sabotage Nanjirō's U.S. Open championship bid. They orchestrate a kidnapping plot targeting Nanjirō's young child to force his defeat, but a case of mistaken identity leads them to abduct Sakuno instead. This error necessitates Ryoma's intervention to rescue Sakuno, securing his father's unimpeded participation in the match.
Emerald occupies a morally ambiguous position, exhibiting traits that blur distinctions between outright villainy and victimhood. The character's antagonistic actions derive from allegiance to Wolf's objectives rather than personal malice.
Emerald remains exclusive to the 2021 film's narrative, without extension into other *Prince of Tennis* media such as the original manga, anime series, OVAs, or additional films.
