TV-Series
Description
Aika Fuwa is a pivotal character in Blast of Tempest, despite being deceased before the main story begins. She is a sixteen-year-old girl with light brown hair that reaches her back and purple eyes, and was considered to have a lovely complexion. She was the adoptive sister of Mahiro Fuwa and the secret girlfriend of Yoshino Takigawa, a fact they kept hidden, particularly from Mahiro. She lived with her parents, who were later also found dead, though the circumstances of their deaths are directly tied to her own actions.

Aika is described by those close to her as having a "bad personality" due to her cold, calculating, and often controlling nature. She possesses a sharp intellect and a strong sense of judgment, which could be intimidating to her peers and made it difficult for her to make friends. She is also dramatically eccentric, once declaring herself the detective, victim, and murderer of her own family's murder case. Despite her aloof exterior, she is deeply caring and loving toward the people most important to her, namely Yoshino and Mahiro. She has a pronounced penchant for quoting the works of William Shakespeare, particularly "Hamlet" and "The Tempest," which she uses to express her worldview.

The central motivation for Aika's actions is her desire to secure a future for Yoshino and Mahiro that is not predetermined by the Tree of Beginnings. She is revealed to be the true "Magician of Zetsuen" (or Mage of Exodus), a powerful sorceress whose strength feeds off the power of the opposing Tree of Genesis. Knowing the fate that awaited the world and the two boys she loved, she chose to commit suicide and also killed her parents to ensure that Mahiro would be free to pursue her supposed murderer. She orchestrated her own death to create a specific chain of cause and effect, ensuring that Hakaze Kusaribe would travel to the past, meet her, and ultimately be motivated to help Yoshino and Mahiro destroy the Tree of Genesis. She saw her death as a "beautiful exit" in the grand play of destiny, though her actions paradoxically show her seizing control of her own fate.

In the story, Aika functions as the unseen driving force behind the entire plot. Her "murder" is the catalyst that sets her grief-stricken brother on a path of revenge and draws her secret boyfriend, Yoshino, into a magical conflict. Even from beyond the grave, her past actions and her final message to the two boys continue to shape their decisions and the story's resolution. Her role is to be the architect of the events that unfold, manipulating the protagonists and the antagonist, Hakaze, into positions where they can change the world.

Her most important relationship is with Yoshino Takigawa, her secret boyfriend. She loved him deeply and found in him someone who did not fear her intellect or power, someone who made her feel like she had an ally. She was grateful to him for making each day enjoyable and became furious when Hakaze made him cry. Her fondness for hippos, which decorate many of her belongings, stems from their resemblance to Yoshino; she saw them as steady and dull on the outside but unimaginably ferocious within. Her relationship with her stepbrother, Mahiro, is more complex. He harbored romantic feelings for her, which he suppressed, while she was simply grateful to have a brother who watched over her. Her death and her secret relationship with his best friend are central to his character arc. Finally, her encounter with Hakaze Kusaribe is brief but crucial. When Hakaze travels to the past to find Aika's killer, Aika reveals the truth to her, explains her grand logic, and forces Hakaze into the role of being the one who will eventually help the boys, all while defeating her in a magical duel to prove her resolve.

Aika's development is a tragic and static one, as her story takes place almost entirely before the series begins. However, the audience's perception of her changes dramatically. Initially presented as a victim, she is gradually revealed to be a master manipulator and the story's true antagonist in a sense, having orchestrated the very circumstances that drive the plot. Her final act is one of ultimate agency, choosing death to grant life and freedom to those she loves, moving from a perceived passive role to an overwhelmingly active one.

As the Mage of Exodus, Aika possesses formidable magical abilities. Her power is unique in that it stems directly from the Tree of Genesis, meaning the more power a mage of Genesis, like Hakaze, uses, the stronger Aika becomes in response. This allows her to effortlessly overcome Hakaze in their duel. Unlike other mages, she is not required to make an offering to use her magic. She is also skilled with a sword, which she uses as her primary weapon in combat. Her abilities are intrinsically linked to the Tree of Exodus, making her the only one capable of truly opposing the Tree of Genesis.
