TV-Series
Description
Mio Sawada is a supporting character in the To Love Ru series, including the Darkness arc. She is a high school student and a classmate of Rito Yuuki and Lala Satalin Deviluke. Mio is one of the closest friends of Haruna Sairenji and Risa Momioka, and she is almost always seen in the company of Risa. She has short green hair worn in pigtails and typically wears glasses. Her birthday is September 17, and she has blood type AB. Mio works part time at a maid cafe called Sister Cafe, a job she took because of her love for cosplay. She is also a member of the school’s tennis club alongside Haruna and Risa.

Personality wise, Mio is cheerful, mischievous, and playful. She enjoys teasing others and frequently teams up with Risa to grope the breasts of their female classmates, particularly Haruna and Lala. This behavior is portrayed as lighthearted and comedic rather than malicious. Despite her mischievous side, Mio is a friendly and supportive friend who genuinely cares about those close to her. She is not a major driver of the main plot, and her motivations are simple: she enjoys having fun with her friends, indulging in her hobby of cosplay, and being curious about the unusual situations that arise from Lala’s alien antics.

In the story, Mio serves primarily as comic relief and as part of Haruna’s social circle. She does not undergo significant personal development or have special abilities; she is an ordinary human girl. Her role is to add lighthearted moments and to help illustrate the everyday school life that contrasts with the sci-fi and romantic chaos surrounding the main characters. Her key relationships are with Haruna, her best friend who is often the target of her pranks, and with Risa, her equally mischievous partner in crime. Mio also interacts with Lala as a classmate and occasionally joins in when Lala asks about Earth customs, often providing deliberately misleading or perverted answers for fun. Mio remains a consistent minor presence throughout the series, with no notable growth or change in her character.
