Description
Kuzuha Domoto is a young student enrolled in the high school section of the JPN BABEL organization, a training institution for individuals who have returned from parallel worlds. Despite being around eleven or twelve years old, she was placed directly into high school through an accelerated grade-skip due to her exceptional intelligence and combat ability. Physically small and youthful in appearance, she wears her blue-green hair in a long hime cut and has purple eyes. Her usual expression is neutral and subdued, and she rarely smiles, which gives her an outwardly reserved and sometimes emotionless demeanor.

In terms of personality, Kuzuha is highly intelligent and diligent, willingly taking on the responsibilities of class representative for Class B. She approaches her duties seriously, though she privately struggles with understanding the feelings of others. This difficulty in navigating emotional situations leads her to believe that her own immaturity is a nuisance, making her somewhat self-conscious and shy. Her reserved nature stems more from this perceived social gap than from coldness, and she is sensitive about being treated like a child.

Kuzuha’s background mirrors that of many BABEL students: she was suddenly pulled into the alternate world of Alayzard, survived, and returned with new magic-based talents. Her elemental affinity is earth, and in combat she manifests her power by summoning an enormous wooden hammer that she wields with surprising force. This weapon-based earth magic contrasts with her petite frame, underscoring the raw power she conceals.

Within the story, Kuzuha functions as a reliable class representative and a supportive ally. Her role often places her alongside the main cast during school events, training exercises, and confrontations with antagonistic factions, where her tactical thinking and earthy offensive capabilities prove useful. She is not simply a background classmate; she participates directly in key moments, and her presence helps ground the more chaotic elements of the class.

Kuzuha’s key relationships center on her close friendships with Miu Ousawa and Chikage Izumi, as well as her evolving connection with the protagonist, Akatsuki Ousawa. Initially, she regarded Akatsuki with some distance, but after he helped her recover her confidence during a conflict with the student council, she grew closer to him. Over time, her feelings deepened from a hesitant crush into genuine love. In the light novel continuity, she eventually confesses to him, kisses him, and is accepted as one of the girls who care for him, marking a significant step in her emotional development.

Her development across the series traces a path from a sharply intelligent but emotionally guarded girl to someone who gradually opens up to vulnerability and affection. While her intellect and combat skill were already high at the outset, her arc focuses on learning to bridge the gap between her internal world and the emotions of those around her. Through her interactions with Akatsuki and her friends, she allows a warmer, more girlish side to surface, even as she retains her serious dedication to her duties.
