Description
Koki Furihata is a first-year student at Seirin High School and serves as a point guard for the school's basketball team. He is one of the smallest players on the roster, standing at 170 centimeters and weighing 60 kilograms, with medium-length brown hair and wide brown eyes. He wears the number 12 jersey. Furihata is quiet and has a noticeably timid and nervous disposition, often becoming easily intimidated when facing strong opponents, especially members of the Generation of Miracles. Despite his anxiety, he is a cautious, sincere, and positive individual who works hard in practice and matches. His lack of self-confidence is offset by a diligent attitude and a willingness to learn from more experienced teammates. He is motivated by a desire to contribute meaningfully to Seirin's success, even when he feels outmatched. Furihata plays primarily in a supporting role, often coming off the bench to provide stability. His playing style as a point guard is careful and methodical; he is not flashy but can execute plays reliably and act as a steadying presence. Early in the series, he remained mostly on the sidelines, but he gained significant playing time during the Winter Cup, particularly in the match against Rakuzan, where his growth in composure and courage became evident. Among the first-year players, he is called "Furi" and forms close bonds with fellow freshmen Koichi Kawahara and Hiroshi Fukuda, often encouraging them. He is also on friendly terms with Tetsuya Kuroko, who addresses him as "Furihata-kun." Over the course of the story, Furihata gradually overcomes some of his timidity, emerging as a more confident and reliable asset to the team, embodying the theme of personal growth through perseverance.
