Description
Jin Muso is a character from the anime Aquarion Evol, originating from the planet Altair. He is a young man of fourteen years with blond hair and green eyes. His background is marked by the tragic circumstances of his homeworld; Jin is known as the last son of Altair, having been born just before the death of all women on his planet. This upbringing in a female-less society profoundly shapes his worldview.

Personality-wise, Jin presents a calm and analytical demeanor. He is a skilled strategist and quick thinker, preferring furtive and carefully planned tactics over brute force. His expertise lies in electronic warfare, and he is a prodigious sharpshooter who can remotely control multiple machines with impressive mechanical skill. Despite his competence and a quiet sense of pride, he is also an indoor type who enjoys solitude. However, when he infiltrates the Neo-DEAVA academy on Vega, his composure is shattered by his complete inexperience with real women; he finds them frightening and overwhelming, often reacting with shock and embarrassment to their behavior, which reveals a surprisingly innocent and awkward side to his personality.

Jin's primary motivation shifts over the course of the story. Initially, he is a loyal soldier serving as the second-in-command to Izumo Kamurogi on Altair, tasked with infiltrating Neo-DEAVA to identify and capture a girl believed to be the True Eve, a rare individual who could save his dying world. He assumes the false identity of a transfer student named Akbarjin Batbayar to gather intelligence and locate this girl. His role in the story is that of an antagonist turned ally. While spying, he develops a genuine attachment to a shy, soft-spoken Element named Yunoha Suroor, who is unfazed by his odd behavior. His feelings for her cause him to waver in his mission, culminating in a crisis when he attempts to forcibly take her back to Altair but is moved by her tears and his newfound friendships to abandon his mission and defect to the Neo-DEAVA side.

Key relationships define his arc. His bond with Yunoha is the most significant; he falls in love with her, and it is while protecting her from danger that he awakens his Elemental power. He also forms friendships with male students like Andy W. Hole and Amata Sora, who nickname him Jin and accept him as a comrade. His relationship with his superior, Izumo, is complex, as Izumo treats him with a fatherly sense of value and mourns his eventual death. His integration into the team is uneasy; while commanders Zen Fudo and Crea Dolosera recognize his value, the pilot Cayenne Suzushiro remains distrustful of him due to visions warning of a one-eyed giant.

Jin's development is a tragic trajectory from spy to a true hero. After defecting, he pilots the Aquarion Gepard and uses his newfound loyalty to help his friends, even merging his power with Yunoha's to create the Dimension Shutting Cannon, a devastating attack that can sever the dimensional gate to Altair. In a final act of redemption, he uses this ability to help defeat the rampaging Kagura. As punishment for his betrayal of the original plan, the enigmatic being Mykage fatally wounds him. Jin dies in Yunoha's arms, but not before a pre-recorded message from his device plays, revealing his true feelings for her as a confession of love.

Jin's notable ability is his Elemental power, the Power to Isolate, also known as the power of severance. This allows him to generate powerful green energy barriers that can nullify or isolate any attack. When combined with Yunoha's ability to become invisible, their shared isolation power becomes absolute, enabling the Dimension Shutting Cannon that can erase the connection between dimensions. This ability makes him a uniquely formidable pilot, even if his personal journey is cut short by tragedy.
