Nejikawa, also known as Tetsuo Nejikawa, is a secondary character in Jewelpet Sunshine. He is a blocky, gray robot with red accents, round blue glass eyes, and a fixed rectangular mouth. Created by the Jewelpet Sapphie, he is a student in the Plum Section at Sunshine Academy and serves as Sapphie’s dedicated assistant. Despite being a machine, Nejikawa possesses emotions, intelligence, and the ability to speak like a human. His primary motivation is his deep affection for Sapphie, which drives him to willingly undergo her often bizarre experiments, including the installation of various contraptions into his body or alterations to his programming. His role in the story is largely comedic and supportive, often helping Sapphie with her projects or providing assistance to other students. Key relationships include his bond with Sapphie, who is both his creator and his romantic interest, as well as interactions with the other quirky members of the Plum Section. Over the course of the series, Nejikawa’s character develops through his unwavering loyalty and eventual reciprocation of Sapphie’s feelings, culminating in the epilogue where the two are together. Notably, when possessed by Dark Jewel Magic, Nejikawa gains a human-like head, hinting at a more complex potential.
