Description
Daigo Sengūji is a pivotal figure in the Inazuma Eleven GO series, known primarily as the shadowy mastermind who controls the Fifth Sector, an organization that seeks to manage and control youth soccer from behind the scenes. He also serves as the coach of Dragonlink, the strongest team representing the Fifth Sector's ideals of managed soccer.

Physically, Sengūji is an imposing and tall man with a distinctive appearance. He has slicked-back pink hair that reaches the bottom of his neck, tanned skin, and grey eyes. His attire is consistently formal, consisting of a white suit worn over a red shirt, a black tie, and a gold pin on his collar.

His background is central to understanding his motivations. Growing up in Germany, Sengūji loved soccer passionately. However, he was born into poverty at a time when playing soccer was a privilege only for the wealthy. Unable to afford a ball, he resorted to stealing one. He was caught for this act and subsequently imprisoned. This traumatic experience of being denied the sport he loved due to his economic status became the driving force of his life.

Motivated by a twisted sense of justice, Sengūji sought to create a world where everyone could play soccer equally. To achieve this, he founded the Fifth Sector, an organization designed to enforce a system of managed soccer, where match outcomes were predetermined to eliminate the pain of losing and the inequality of resources. His charismatic and deceptive personality was key to his rise, as he was able to convince the legendary forward Shuya Goenji, who shares a deep love for the game, to become the public-facing Holy Emperor of the Fifth Sector, while Sengūji himself remained the hidden mastermind.

In the story, Sengūji initially operates from the shadows, but his role becomes direct and antagonistic during the Holy Road tournament finals. When his chosen team, Seidouzan, fails to defeat Raimon according to the planned score, Sengūji intervenes directly. He dismisses Ishido Shuuji (Goenji) as the team's coach and takes personal command, revealing his own elite team, Dragonlink. As the coach, he deploys Dragonlink, a team composed entirely of players who can use keshin (avatars), to systematically dismantle Raimon. His goal is to prove that his system of absolute control is the only way to ensure a predictable and, in his view, fair brand of soccer.

Key relationships define his place in the world. His most significant relationship is with Shuya Goenji, whom he manipulated into leading the Fifth Sector. He also has a son named Yamato Sengūji, who leads Dragonlink on the field and physically resembles him. His connection to the mysterious applicant known as Helper X reveals that the search for gifted children known as the Second Stage Children was a secret objective of the Fifth Sector all along, a task he delegated to Goenji.

Daigo Sengūji undergoes a notable development by the end of the main story. After witnessing Raimon defeat Dragonlink in a fair and equal match, he experiences a change of heart. He finally understands that his method of controlling soccer was misguided and wrong. Accepting his defeat and error, he readily admits his mistake and resigns from his position, showing a capacity for humility and change that contrasts with his earlier tyrannical demeanor. Later, he is seen playing soccer kindly with children, demonstrating his reformation.

Regarding notable abilities, Sengūji is not primarily a player but a strategic mastermind and a coach. His greatest ability lies in his organizational genius, having built the Fifth Sector from the ground up. He is a highly charismatic and convincing individual, capable of bringing powerful figures like Goenji under his influence. As a coach, his philosophy is centered on total control and efficiency, embodied by his team Dragonlink, which uses overwhelming offensive power through keshin shots to dominate opponents. His entire approach to soccer is clinical and strategic, viewing it as a system to be managed rather than a game to be played freely.
