Description
Nishiki Ryouma is a major supporting character in the anime Inazuma Eleven GO. He is a second-year student at Raimon Middle School and later serves as a midfielder for the Raimon soccer team, having originally played as a forward for the team’s second-string squad. Recognized for his outstanding talent, Nishiki spent time studying abroad in the Italian Pro League, where he changed his playing position. He returns to Japan late in the first season, making his first appearance near the end of episode 25 by sending letters to his teammates. His reappearance on the field occurs during Raimon’s match against Hakuren, after which he remains part of the main team.
Nishiki has a distinctive appearance, with long black hair tied into a ponytail and a samurai-inspired demeanor. His personality is described as carefree and aloof on the surface, but he also possesses a hot-tempered and passionate side. He deliberately uses the name Ryouma as his given name in reference to the historical figure Sakamoto Ryouma, reflecting his admiration for that samurai. This sense of self-presentation carries into his playing style, which is confident and assertive. He is notably excited and glad to be back in Japan after his time abroad, though his initial stint in Italy was difficult – he struggled as a striker, disliked the local food, and often wanted to return home.
Within the story, Nishiki plays a key role as a strong midfielder who helps Raimon overcome various challenges. His development involves adapting to a new position and integrating his overseas experience into his team’s tactics. He is closely associated with teammate Midori Seto, and the two are often shown interacting both on and off the field, leading to a popular pairing among fans. Nishiki also appears in later installments of the GO series, including Inazuma Eleven GO Chrono Stone and Inazuma Eleven GO Galaxy, where he continues to support Raimon and its allies.
In terms of abilities, Nishiki is a technically skilled player who specializes in hissatsu techniques, including Acrobat Keep, and possesses a Keshin (a spiritual avatar) called Sengoku Bunshin Musashi. His Keshin allows him to summon a warrior-like figure to aid in matches, and he uses other special moves such as Bunshin Rezan. His style blends agility, power, and a samurai flair, making him a versatile asset on the pitch.
