Description
Natola Einus is a lieutenant in the Earth Federation Forces who serves as the captain of the warship Diva during the third generation of the conflict depicted in Mobile Suit Gundam AGE. She is a young woman with red hair and blue-green eyes. She secured her position in the military largely due to the influence and reputation of her grandfather, a circumstance that casts doubt on her own qualifications in the eyes of both her superiors and herself. At the start of her command, she is notably lacking in self‑confidence and practical skill, often hesitating in critical moments and feeling that she does not have the ability to lead the aging Diva effectively. She makes several early mistakes, such as failing to launch mobile suits in time or forgetting to operate key systems like the AGE System during the Battle of Oliver Notts, which leads to her being reprimanded.
Despite these initial shortcomings, Natola possesses a genuine desire to live up to her inherited position and prove herself worthy. When faced with the immediate danger of civilian children, she ignores the objections of her subordinates and orders a rescue, revealing a core of decisiveness and moral clarity beneath her shy and awkward exterior. This action, along with her steady growth under pressure, catches the attention of veteran pilot Flit Asuno, who recognizes her latent potential and begins to mentor her. As the story progresses, Natola’s personality becomes firmer and more reliable. She gradually overcomes her self‑doubt and learns to command with greater authority. By the final battle, she has developed enough to take charge of both the Bisidian and Federation fleets, coordinating their attack against the massive Vagan Gear Sid. Her key relationships include her mentorship under Flit Asuno and her interactions with the crew of the Diva, who initially are skeptical of her but eventually come to respect her leadership. Natola’s most notable ability is her capacity for personal growth: she transforms from an insecure rookie into a capable commander who can make difficult decisions in battle and inspire those under her command.
