Description
Palm Siberia is a Hunter and the apprentice of Knov, introduced during the Chimera Ant arc of Hunter × Hunter. She is a young woman of 22, initially appearing with long, unruly black hair, pale and sickly-looking skin, and an extremely thin frame. Her unsettling appearance and stressful aura make her seem frightening at first, though she is capable of transforming into a strikingly beautiful woman when she dresses up.

Her personality is marked by emotional instability. She is prone to hysterical outbursts, obsessive attachments, and violent mood swings, and she tends to talk excessively and drift off-topic in conversation. Like many Enhancers, she is stubborn and persistent, and her volatile temper makes others wary of her. Beneath this unstable exterior, however, she is deeply emotional, romantic, and capable of great loyalty and care for those she loves. Her feelings for her master Knov border on fanatical devotion, and she later develops a crush on Gon. Her motivations are largely driven by love and devotion: she undertakes dangerous tasks for Knov, agrees to help Gon on the condition of a date with him, and makes a promise to Gon to return alive from the palace invasion, a promise that weighs heavily on her throughout the arc.

As a professional Hunter, Palm's strength lies in infiltration, intelligence gathering, and long-range surveillance. She is a Nen user classified as an Enhancer, though her abilities are unusual and versatile. Her primary human ability, known as Wink Blue, involves feeding her own blood to a small preserved merman, which allows her to track anyone she has seen with her own eyes and project their current image onto a crystal, no matter how far away they are. This makes her an exceptional spy. She demonstrated this by infiltrating the royal palace of East Gorteau as a personal secretary to Director Bizeff, intending to observe the Chimera Ant King and report his location.

Her role in the story takes a tragic turn when she is discovered by Neferpitou's En and captured by the Royal Guards. Shaiapouf transforms her into a Chimera Ant soldier, making her a memory-wiped experiment with a crystal embedded in her forehead. In this altered state, she gains a new combat ability often referred to as Black Widow, in which she wraps her body in hardened hair, granting her enormous defensive power and destructive close-range attacks. Her combat reactions become sharp enough to keep pace with Killua's speed. Her transformation also grants her a permanent connection to her tracking ability through the crystal, allowing her to sense the King's movements at all times.

She is restored to her human emotions when Killua, broken and desperate, calls out to her and cries for her, which resonates with her buried feelings for Gon and breaks Pouf's influence. Afterward, Palm becomes calmer, more rational, and more compassionate than before. She accepts her changed body and dedicates herself to protecting others. She is the first to understand the King's true intentions, she shields Komugi from Pouf's search with fierce protectiveness, and she ultimately faces Meruem with remarkable resolve, witnessing his final moments and helping fulfill his last wish. Her actions in the final stages of the arc are crucial to its emotional and narrative resolution.

Palm's key relationships define her arc. Her devotion to Knov gives way to a more mature role as she supports him when he breaks under the pressure of the palace mission. Her bond with Gon begins with a strange and tense date and evolves into a sincere promise between allies. Her encounter with Killua, initially hostile, becomes one of the most emotionally significant moments of the arc. Her interactions with Meruem and Komugi reveal her capacity for empathy and maternal care. Through her transformation and recovery, Palm develops from a frightening and unstable woman into a more composed, selfless figure who carries the weight of her experiences with quiet strength. She survives the arc and remains a member of the Hunter Association, a rare human with Chimera Ant traits who retains her humanity.
