Description
Kejoro, whose human name was Kino, is a yokai who serves as a loyal attendant within the Nura household in the anime Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan: Demon Capital. She is a striking figure with a voluptuous and mature appearance, characterized by long, wavy brown hair that often covers half of her face and is tied up in a ponytail with a red tasseled cord. Her standard attire is a white kimono dress with floral patterns worn loosely, which reveals her ample bosom, though she also wears a binding or bandages beneath it. Her human past informs her identity; while alive, she was named Kino and served as an attendant to the oiran Shiragiku in the Yoshiwara pleasure district. This history is mirrored in her role within the clan, where she frequently handles kitchen duties and other domestic tasks around the Nura mansion, a detail that often leads human visitors to mistakenly believe she is Rikuo Nuras older sister.

In personality, Kejoro is consistently depicted as nice and cheerful, possessing a flirtatious and young-at-heart demeanor. Her defining characteristic, however, is her profound loyalty to the Nura Clan, particularly to the young master Rikuo, whom she serves as a dedicated attendant and bodyguard. Despite her gentle and sometimes flirtatious nature, she possesses a deep well of emotional strength and resolve, especially when it comes to protecting those she cares about. Her primary motivation is the well-being of her comrades and the success of the clans future leader, which drives her to fight and endure significant hardship throughout the series.

Kejoros most significant relationship is with her fellow yokai, Kubinashi. This bond is rooted in their shared human past, as Kubinashi was a frequent visitor to the oiran that Kejoro served. While he was in love with the oiran, Kejoro developed her own deep feelings for him, feelings that persist into their yokai existence. Their connection is so strong that they have frequently fought as a tag-team, and Kejoro once offered her own life to save his when they were defeated by Rikuos father, Rihan. In the present story, this relationship becomes a central focus. When Kubinashi loses himself to a violent, self-destructive rampage, it is Kejoro who follows him and ultimately manages to snap him out of his depression, demonstrating her unique ability to reach him where others cannot. Her role is thus not just as a fighter, but as the emotional anchor for one of the clans most volatile members.

Throughout the Demon Capital arc, Kejoro is part of the force that travels with Rikuo to Kyoto to confront the Hagoromo-Gitsune faction. During these battles, she continues to fight alongside Kubinashi, such as at the sixth seal of Ryuen-ji, where she is gravely wounded by a surprise attack from the enemy Kidomaru. Even after being injured, she reappears to stand with Rikuos Night Parade of a Hundred Demons as they march on Nijō Castle, showing her unwavering commitment to the cause. Her development is subtle but significant, moving from a background support character to a crucial emotional pillar for Kubinashi, and a steadfast source of motivation for the clans forces during dire moments.

Kejoro is a capable fighter whose combat style is unique and centered on her most prominent feature: her hair. She can manipulate her hair, stretching and growing it to extraordinary lengths to use as a weapon, much like a lasso or a net. Her primary technique is called Midaregami, Asobi Onna no Mai, which translates to Unraveled Hair, Dance of the Courtesan. This hyoui technique lengthens her hair to envelop and overwhelm her opponents. While she occasionally wields a pair of tessen, or iron folding fans, her hair remains her primary and most effective means of combat, possessing enough strength to restrain even heavy allies like Kubinashi.
