Description
Nanaya is one of the antagonists in Monochrome Factor and is known as one of Homurabi's five children. He appears as a mysterious figure of the shadow world, specifically a shin, and he serves as a recurring threat to the main characters. His background is tied to his lineage as a child of Homurabi, placing him directly within the conflict between the human world and the shadow world.
In terms of physical appearance, Nanaya is a slim yet tall and fairly muscular man. He has extremely pale skin, gold eyes, and short blue hair. He wears an eyepatch over his right eye, and beneath it there are several vertical scars running down his face. He also has multiple piercings on his ears and two on his left eyebrow. His overall look is distinctive and menacing.
Nanaya's personality is marked by a sadistic streak, particularly when he targets those he considers weak. He is prone to anger, especially when others comment on his failures or see through him. He shows no hesitation in fighting Akira and goes as far as torturing Shirogane. His motivations are aligned with his role as an antagonist: he acts in service of Homurabi and works to further the goals of the shadow world, often opposing the efforts of the protagonists.
In the manga, Nanaya is revealed to be a factor of darkness. This grants him a greater tolerance to the effects of the shadow world, but it comes with a dangerous drawback: if he absorbs too much darkness, he goes berserk and attacks anyone, friend or foe alike. This ability makes him a formidable opponent but also a volatile one. His fighting style and powers as a shin are closely linked to his dark nature.
Key relationships include his connection to Homurabi as his father and master, and his interactions with other characters in the series, particularly Akira and Shirogane. He serves as a direct adversary, and his actions drive much of the conflict in the story. Over the course of the narrative, his development is largely tied to the consequences of his own dark power and his steadfast loyalty to Homurabi's cause.
