Description
Aya Suzuno is a sixteen-year-old girl who attends the same high school as the protagonists Akira Nikaidou and Kengo Asamura. She lives at home with her mother, father, and grandfather. Her birthday is on September 15. She stands 158 centimeters tall and weighs 45 kilograms.
In terms of appearance, Aya has shoulder-length, messy black hair that she typically secures on the left side with two pink hair clips, and brown eyes. She is generally seen wearing her school uniform.
Aya has a direct and forthright personality and possesses a very strong sense of justice. Her high moral standards lead her to serve on the school's disciplinary committee, where her strict enforcement of rules has earned her the nickname the Demon Disciplinarian. However, after discovering the truth about Akira's activities as a Shin, a being from the Shadow World, she chooses to join the fight against the Kokuchi and the forces of Homurabi. Her primary motivation is her inherent sense of justice and a desire to protect the balance between the human world and the shadow world. Her relationships with Akira and Kengo are central, evolving from that of a school prefect chasing truants to that of a trusted and capable ally in battle.
Aya's development is closely tied to her growth as a fighter. Her natural talent with the sword comes from training with her grandfather, and she is highly skilled in kendo. After proving her capabilities, the mysterious figure Shirogane gives her a bracelet called Kuresame, which can transform into a gauntlet and a katana that she uses to fight the Kokuchi. In later chapters of the manga, her determination during a battle causes her Kuresame to evolve, granting her new armor and a second sword, as she proves to be much more powerful and efficient when wielding two blades instead of one. Her notable abilities include exceptional skill in kendo, swordsmanship, iaido, and map reading, and her fighting style is speed-oriented.
