Masumi Asano is a Japanese voice actress, singer, narrator, and children's book author born on August 25, 1977, in Akita Prefecture. She is a graduate of Kokugakuin University, where she studied Japanese Literature. Asano entered the voice acting industry in 1999 after winning an award at a voice actor training seminar during her university years, which led to her debut with the Kirakira☆Melody Academy unit.
Her career in voice acting has seen her affiliated with several agencies. She was initially with I'm Enterprise, then moved to Arts Vision in 2003, and later joined Aoni Production in 2008. Since January 2021, she has worked as a freelancer. Throughout her career, Asano has been recognized for her work, winning the Best Personality award at the very first Seiyu Awards in 2007.
Asano is known for a wide array of anime roles, demonstrating considerable range. She is particularly associated with the long-running Ikki Tousen franchise, where she voices the lead character Hakufu Sonsaku, a role she has played across multiple series including Ikki Tousen, Dragon Destiny, Great Guardians, Xtreme Xecutor, Extravaganza Epoch, and Western Wolves. Another major role is Minami Kaido, also known as Cure Mermaid, in the popular Pretty Cure franchise, specifically in Go! Princess Precure and its subsequent film appearances.
