Description
"Great Dangaioh" is a three-episode OVA series that serves as a sequel to the 1987 anime "Dangaioh." The story revolves around a group of young psychics who are recruited to pilot the titular giant robot, Dangaioh, to combat an alien threat. The series begins with the protagonists—Mia Alice, Roll Kran, Lamba Nom, and Tapp Oceano—being trained under the guidance of Dr. Tarsan, a scientist who has developed Dangaioh as a weapon to protect Earth. Each character possesses unique psychic abilities, which are crucial for operating the robot effectively.

The narrative unfolds as the group faces off against the Zorbados, an alien race intent on conquering Earth. The Zorbados are led by the enigmatic and powerful Emperor Muge, who commands a fleet of advanced warships and formidable mecha. The protagonists must learn to work together, harnessing their psychic powers and the advanced technology of Dangaioh to thwart the alien invasion. The series emphasizes teamwork and the growth of the characters as they confront increasingly dangerous adversaries.

Throughout the episodes, the story explores themes of sacrifice, loyalty, and the burden of responsibility. The characters grapple with their roles as defenders of humanity, often questioning their abilities and the moral implications of their actions. The conflict escalates as the Zorbados deploy more powerful weapons and strategies, culminating in a climactic battle that tests the limits of Dangaioh and its pilots.

The series maintains a fast-paced narrative, with a focus on action and the development of the central characters. The interplay between the protagonists and their evolving relationships adds depth to the story, while the high-stakes battles against the Zorbados provide a sense of urgency and tension. "Great Dangaioh" combines elements of mecha action, science fiction, and character-driven drama, creating a compelling and concise narrative within its limited episode count.

The enemy scout Gelfo descends to Earth encased within a falling meteor. The Exception bio-weapon emerges from the impact crater with a semi-solid body that resists physical damage. Gelfo fires energy rays from its central eye that spawn destructive crystals across the battlefield. The Dangaioh team launches from the Awaruda base to intercept the alien threat. Kuya Amagi pilots Dangaioh Burst, coordinating with Manami Mishio in Dangaioh Flail and Hitomi Chidou in Dangaioh X. The three robots merge into Dangaioh to confront the invader. Gelfo absorbs incoming energy attacks and redirects them against the mecha. The creature phases through solid matter, making physical strikes ineffective. The pilots adjust their tactics to overload the enemy's energy absorption limit. Dangaioh destroys Gelfo after exploiting this vulnerability. The scout's appearance confirms that the Exception forces have begun their invasion. The three Exception commanders—Bababaruba, Bucharu, and Inokirugo—now prepare to engage Dangaioh directly.
