Description
Hazumu Osaragi, a shy and effeminate high school student, experiences a life-altering event when an alien spacecraft accidentally kills him during a failed confession to his childhood friend, Yasuna Kamiizumi. The aliens, seeking to rectify their mistake, reconstruct Hazumu’s body but inadvertently revive him as a girl. This transformation forces Hazumu to navigate a new identity while grappling with the emotional and social repercussions of the change.
Yasuna, who had previously rejected Hazumu, begins to develop romantic feelings for the now-female Hazumu, leading to a complex love triangle. Tomari Kurusu, Hazumu’s tomboyish best friend, also harbors feelings for Hazumu, further complicating the relationships. The series explores themes of gender identity, love, and self-discovery as Hazumu adjusts to life as a girl and confronts the shifting dynamics of friendships and romantic entanglements.
The narrative delves into the challenges of acceptance, both from others and within oneself, as Hazumu’s transformation becomes a catalyst for introspection among the characters. The aliens, who remain a subtle presence, occasionally intervene to observe the consequences of their actions, adding a light sci-fi element to the otherwise grounded story. The series balances moments of humor, drama, and romance, creating a nuanced portrayal of adolescence and the fluidity of identity.
The main characters—Hazumu, Yasuna, and Tomari—are central to the emotional core of the story, each representing different perspectives on love and identity. Hazumu’s journey of self-acceptance, Yasuna’s evolving feelings, and Tomari’s internal conflict over her emotions drive the narrative forward, culminating in a resolution that emphasizes personal growth and the complexities of human relationships.
