Ryoko Shintani is a Japanese voice actress and singer born on March 31, 1981, in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture. She is affiliated with the talent agency Vi-vo as a voice actress and with the record label Lantis for her music career.

Her path to a voice acting career began after she moved to Tokyo following high school and enrolled in a voice course at the Japan College of Arts and Entertainment. In 2000, while still a student, she won the Prism Palette award, a voice actor competition sponsored by Broccoli. Although the game for which the award was intended was delayed, this success led to an opportunity to audition for a Broccoli project. In 2001, she made her debut as a voice actress, landing the lead role of Milfeulle Sakuraba in the anime series Galaxy Angel. This role marked the beginning of her professional career and became one of her most recognized performances. She subsequently became a regular in the franchise, appearing in its multiple television seasons and sequel series.

Following her anime debut, Shintani also began a career as a singer, releasing her first mini-album, Pink no Bambi, in 2003 and establishing a musical style she describes as "BambiPop". Throughout her career, she has performed numerous theme songs for anime and video games.

Shintani has built a prolific career with a wide range of roles across many popular series. In addition to the Galaxy Angel franchise, some of her most prominent and long-running roles include Sae in the Hidamari Sketch series, Nami Hitō in the Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei series and its various sequels and specials, and Konomi Fujimiya in the Non Non Biyori series, including its sequel Nonstop and the film Vacation. She has also voiced significant characters such as Hitomi Shizuki in Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Elsa in The Sacred Blacksmith, Tetsuro in Arakawa Under the Bridge, Hirano Hasegawa in the Tantei Opera Milky Holmes franchise, and Rihoko Sakurai in Amagami SS.

Her work is not limited to these titles. Shintani has voiced a diverse array of characters, including Yūno Hōzuki in Kure-nai, Anna Katō in Abnormal Physiology Seminar, Rachel Benning in Red Garden, Yu Daimonji in Master of Martial Hearts, and Sayoka in Inukami!. Her filmography also includes roles in DearS, Mai-HiME, PetoPeto-san, and many others, demonstrating her versatility across different genres and character types.
