TV-Series
Description
"Gift - eternal rainbow" is set in the fictional town of Narasakicho, a place known for its frequent rainbows and a mysterious phenomenon called "Gift." The story revolves around Haruhiko Amami, a high school student who returns to his hometown after several years away. He reunites with his childhood friends, including Riko Fukumine, Kirino Morishita, and Chisa Mizuhara, all of whom attend the local school, Kibougaoka Academy. The town's unique "Gift" phenomenon grants certain individuals the ability to bestow a single wish upon someone else, but the mechanics and limitations of this power remain shrouded in mystery.

Haruhiko's return coincides with the arrival of a new transfer student, Riko Fukumine, who harbors a deep connection to him from their shared past. As the narrative unfolds, it becomes clear that Riko possesses a Gift, though her motivations and the nature of her wish are initially unclear. The story explores the relationships between Haruhiko and the girls, particularly Riko, Kirino, and Chisa, as they navigate their feelings, memories, and the implications of the Gifts they hold.

Kirino Morishita, Haruhiko's childhood friend and neighbor, is a cheerful and energetic girl who harbors unspoken feelings for him. Her Gift becomes a focal point as she struggles with the emotional weight of her wish. Chisa Mizuhara, another close friend, is more reserved and introspective, often acting as a stabilizing presence within the group. Her Gift ties into her desire to protect those she cares about, even at personal cost.

The narrative delves into themes of love, sacrifice, and the consequences of wishes, as the characters grapple with the ethical and emotional dilemmas posed by their Gifts. The town's history and the origins of the Gift phenomenon are gradually revealed, adding layers of intrigue and complexity to the story. The interplay between the characters' personal struggles and the supernatural elements of the Gifts drives the plot forward, culminating in a resolution that ties together their individual arcs and the overarching mystery of Narasakicho.

The series balances moments of lighthearted humor and heartfelt drama, with a focus on character development and interpersonal relationships. The central romance, particularly between Haruhiko and Riko, is a key narrative thread, but the story also gives significant attention to the bonds between all the main characters. Through its exploration of wishes and their consequences, "Gift - eternal rainbow" presents a thoughtful examination of human desires and the impact of choices on oneself and others.

7The Meaning of Happiness
Haruhiko sees Riko's figure repeatedly overlap with his deceased mother. After Kirino describes her encounter with a witch,Haruhiko realizes a fake Gift causes this perceptual distortion. He searches the town to find the witch responsible for the fake Gifts. Haruhiko locates the witch and learns she is Chisa. Throughout his search, Haruhiko questions his own feelings: does he truly love Riko, or does he only project his mother's image onto her? Chisa offers fake Gifts easily, believing anyone can receive happiness without effort. Haruhiko rejects this easy happiness and declares he wants to see Riko as herself alone. To undo the fake Gift's effect, Haruhiko prepares to sacrifice his own precious memories and even the eternal rainbow itself. Chisa witnesses Haruhiko's willingness to give up everything for genuine love. She recognizes that fake Gifts, which lack authentic human emotion, cannot create true happiness for anyone. The fake Gift's influence over Riko dissipates. Haruhiko reaffirms that his feelings for Riko are real and separate from his mother's memory. Kirino watches from a distance as Haruhiko and Riko draw closer together. Kirino's unresolved feelings for Haruhiko push her toward a direct confrontation during the upcoming school trip.

10A Past Taken Away
Riko dreams of a blackening rainbow and watches Kirino walk away with Haruhiko. She awakens and goes to Kirino to beg for forgiveness. Kirino, emotionally broken, refuses to accept a simple apology and corners Riko with sharp questions. Riko admits she cannot give up her brother, but Kirino demands her past memories with Haruhiko instead. Kirino offers to let Riko stay with Haruhiko from now on in exchange for all their shared memories. Riko agrees, and Kirino activates her Gift to erase those memories. The loss of her past with Haruhiko leaves Riko disoriented and emotionally unstable. She kisses Haruhiko and then immediately apologizes, unable to reconcile her actions with her missing memories. A flashback reveals a childhood string telephone connecting Kirino and Haruhiko. On the same day as Kirino's piano recital, Haruhiko tore that string telephone apart when Riko left home. Because of that event, Kirino lost the ability to play the piano to its completion. Kirino then speaks about Riko's erased memories with apparent joy, as if they were her own. Haruhiko must now face his severed past with Kirino and the consequences of that childhood promise.

12The Eternal Rainbow
Riko recovers her lost memories. Haruhiko turns his attention to mending his broken friendship with Kirino. The magical power known as Gift disappears from the town. The Eternal Rainbow, the visual symbol of that power, also vanishes from the sky. Haruhiko and Riko accept the loss of the rainbow and the magic it represented. They make a promise to each other to see a rainbow together again in the future. Kirino's emotional wounds from the love triangle remain part of the resolution. Haruhiko takes concrete steps to repair the childhood bond with Kirino that his rejection damaged. The episode closes the main supernatural conflict by removing Gift from the world entirely. The characters move forward without the easy solutions that magic once provided. Haruhiko and Riko's relationship solidifies as the central romantic outcome.
