Description
Natsuki Ikuhara is the younger sister of the protagonist Takeya Ikuhara in the anime and manga series DearS. She has been living overseas for an extended period, and her return to Japan is sudden and unexpected because Takeya overlooked the letter in which she announced her visit. This creates an immediate element of surprise and slight friction when she arrives at his apartment.

In terms of appearance, Natsuki is depicted as a teenage girl with short brown hair and brown eyes. She is often seen wearing casual clothing such as an animal hat, leg warmers, and knee-high socks, giving her a youthful and energetic look.

Natsuki’s personality is characterized by a bold, impetuous, and energetic nature. She is not shy about expressing her feelings and can be physically aggressive when she feels strongly about something. Her initial reaction upon meeting Ren, the alien DearS who has taken up residence with Takeya, is warm and friendly; she cozies up to Ren and seems open to the new relationship. However, this attitude changes drastically when she overhears Ren referring to herself as Takeya’s “slave.” Natsuki becomes furious, not at Ren but at her brother, whom she perceives as having engaged in a perverse and exploitative dynamic. She physically pummels Takeya for what she sees as his misconduct, and she develops a strong dislike for Ren based on that single statement.

This reaction marks a notable departure from the stereotypical “cute little sister” archetype often seen in anime. Instead of being simply sweet and supportive, Natsuki is direct, morally outspoken, and willing to confront her brother physically. Her motivations are rooted in a protective instinct over what she considers proper behavior and respect for others. She does not approve of the master-slave dynamic she believes Takeya has established, and she acts forcefully to express her disapproval.

In the overall story, Natsuki serves as a supporting character who introduces additional conflict and comedic tension. Her arrival disrupts the domestic arrangement between Takeya and Ren, forcing both of them to address the unusual nature of their relationship. Her strong opinions challenge Takeya to defend or reconsider his choices, and her blunt manner often leads to chaotic interactions.

Natsuki’s key relationships are primarily with her brother Takeya and with Ren. Toward Takeya, she is affectionate but also quick to judge and punish him physically, showing a mix of sibling concern and exasperation. Toward Ren, her feelings shift from initial friendliness to hostility after learning about the slave terminology, and she remains antagonistic for much of the series. There is little indication of significant character development for Natsuki; she maintains her assertive and judgmental stance throughout her appearances, serving more as a consistent force of disruption than a character who undergoes personal growth.

Regarding notable abilities, Natsuki does not possess any supernatural powers or special skills. Her most prominent traits are her physical energy and her willingness to use physical force, as seen when she strikes her brother. She is otherwise an ordinary human teenager, with no special talents highlighted in the story. Her role is defined by her personality and her interactions rather than any unique capabilities.
