Description
Sora Hitoshi is an extraterrestrial cultural anthropologist from an advanced, emotionless humanoid species in another solar system. His people deliberately suppressed emotions centuries ago to avoid self-destruction after creating catastrophic weapons, resulting in a purely logical society. This suppression eradicated sexual and reproductive urges, pushing their species toward extinction. Seeking salvation, he journeyed to Earth to study human emotions, specifically love, hoping to revive these traits among his kind.

His spaceship, piloted by artificial intelligence Jan Pu, crash-landed on Earth due to navigation error and power failure, accidentally killing human teenager Hazumu Osaragi on Kashima Mountain. Complying with his species' ethical protocols, he resurrected Hazumu but inadvertently reconstructed the body as biologically female using a gynoid template calibrated for female physiology. Stranded during ship repairs, he adopted the human identity "Sora Hitoshi" and integrated into society. He moved into Hazumu's household, welcomed by her parents, and became a biology teacher at her high school to observe human interactions—particularly Hazumu's relationships with friends Yasuna Kamiizumi and Tomari Kurusu.

Initially, he exhibited a strictly logical, emotionless demeanor characteristic of his species. His unfamiliarity with human customs resulted in blunt or socially inappropriate comments, offering an outsider's perspective on behaviors like love and competition. He frequently intruded on Hazumu's personal life to document emotional developments, causing her annoyance. Prolonged human exposure triggered subtle emotional growth. He began showing traces of empathy and curiosity beyond clinical observation, reconciling his mission with personal interventions. This culminated when he discovered Hazumu's "life grains" were depleting in the manga continuity, leaving her one month to live. Defying superiors, he transferred life grains from Tomari to Hazumu during a near-fatal fall, saving her life. This act resulted in his punishment: exile on Earth for 100 years.

In the anime continuity, his research directly contributed to resolving Yasuna's visual affliction preventing her from perceiving males. Witnessing love's transformative effect on her condition reinforced his theory that emotions are essential for his species' survival. The OVA concluded with him officiating Hazumu and Tomari's wedding, symbolizing his deeper integration into human social rituals.

Physically, he resembles a tall human male with black spiky hair, broad shoulders, and a lean build. His initial attire was a yellow skin-tight "catsuit" with an antenna-equipped hood, gloves, and boots. As a teacher, he wore formal clothing—a pale yellow shirt, blue pants, amber tie, and white lab coat—often complemented by thick glasses. He maintained a stoic, analytical disposition but gradually developed nuanced expressions, particularly in response to English teacher Namiko's persistent romantic advances, which he typically dismissed with detached bemusement.
