Description
Matsunaga Danjō Hisahide, dubbed the "Venomous Scorpion," rules as daimyo of Yamato Province, infamous for political betrayal and manipulation. She first allied with the Miyoshi Three to topple the Ashikaga Shogunate, only to betray them over internal strife, resulting in her expulsion from Kyoto by Oda forces. Her appearance features dark skin—reportedly mocked—paired with provocative attire contrasting a maternal demeanor, typically clad in red with short hair.

Her personality merges cunning manipulation with warped maternal instincts. She fluidly shifts allegiances, betraying and rejoining factions for expediency. Despite amorality, she dotes obsessively on children like former master Miyoshi Nagayoshi and Oda Nobuna, though her actions often inflict harm. She savors others' suffering, exemplified by her reaction to Akechi Mitsuhide's anguish. Her tactics employ Persian-derived drugs—administered via gas or liquid—to mentally manipulate or permanently puppet victims, nearly transforming Nobuna after Yoshiharu's presumed death to spare her emotional pain.

Persecuted by Mount Hiei's militant monks in childhood, she abandoned religion and honed survivalist instincts. She doted on Miyoshi Nagayoshi, but his death—widely blamed on her drugging—triggered a destructive rampage. She denies responsibility, oblivious that her actions caused his retainers' deaths and his decline.

Throughout the Kyoto Arc, she allies with Nobuna post-defeat but rebels again during the Return of the Ashikaga Shogunate Arc. She burns Buddhist temples and fakes Goemon's death, casting herself as a villain to elevate Nobuna's legend. Cornered in her castle, she exposes and kills Konoe's spy, revealing Konoe's schemes. She passes sacred wood to Nobuna to save Takenaka Hanbei, then demands Nobuna kill her to absorb Nobuna's sins before perishing in the castle blaze.

Surviving via soul fusion with Konoe's spy using the sacred wood, she emerges as the "Flower Goddess," referring to her past self in third person. This new entity spreads tales of her atrocities to cement Nobuna's heroism.

Her skills encompass expertise in Persian-derived narcotics for mental control or puppetry, summoning thirty combat puppets resembling herself, and masterful wielding of a cross-shaped spear (Jumonji Yari) rivaling Mitsuhide. Her spellcasting, linked to the Persian god Angra Mainyu—considered extinct in its homeland—proves difficult for enemies to counter.

Sharing Persian ancestry, she parallels the historical Matsunaga Hisahide's destruction of Nobunaga's prized Hiragumo tea kettle before suicide. She occasionally reveals Persian-influenced tea ceremony knowledge. Her relationship with the equally manipulative Saitō Dōsan adds further complexity.
