Mary is one of the three main characters in the original video animation.hack//Quantum. Her real name is Eri Etou, a female high school student living in Aomori Prefecture. She was introduced to the massively multiplayer online role-playing game The World R:X by her childhood friend Asumi, the player behind the character Sakuya. Within the game, her player character Mary is based on the appearance of a previous character named BlackRose, distinguished by long pink hair tied in a ponytail and a rose accessory worn on the left side of her head. She plays as an Edge Punisher class character, a fighting style that contrasts with her personality.
