Description
Minoru Enoki is the two-year-old younger son of the Enoki family and the baby brother of Takuya Enoki. His mother, Yukako, died in a car accident, and his father, Harumi, works long hours to support the family, leaving Takuya as Minoru’s primary caregiver. Minoru is a toddler with short brown hair and brown eyes, and his name means to bear fruit. He is a little spoiled and easily frightened, often crying when he feels scared or lonely. His constant crying initially frustrates Takuya and draws criticism from neighbors, but Takuya later realizes that Minoru cries because he misses his mother and feels isolated. Minoru is a naturally affectionate child who looks up to his older brother as a hero. He enjoys drawing and is noted to be quite good at it for his age, and his favorite cartoon character is Zap, a superhero from a laundry detergent commercial. Minoru’s primary motivation is to feel safe and loved; he does not fully understand the family’s loss or the burden his care places on Takuya, but he craves attention and reassurance. His role in the story is central: his presence forces Takuya to mature quickly and take on adult responsibilities, and his innocent, dependent nature serves as the emotional core that drives the narrative. The key relationship in Minoru’s life is with Takuya, whom he adores and relies on completely. This bond deepens as Takuya learns to balance his resentment with genuine care. Minoru also has a relationship with his father, though Harumi is often absent due to work. Over the course of the series, Minoru does not undergo dramatic development as a character because he is a toddler, but his growing comfort and trust in Takuya reflect his adjustment to the new family dynamic. He learns to express himself more through drawing and play, and his moments of joy or mischief temper the story’s heavier themes. Minoru has no special abilities beyond those of a typical two-year-old: he can walk, talk in simple phrases, and engage in imaginative play. His greatest ability lies in how his vulnerability and love motivate others, particularly Takuya, to grow.
