TV-Series
Description
Kaho Hiiragi is a first-year Pandora attending West Genetics Academy, where she is also the representative for her class. She is a Japanese girl of fifteen years, standing 158 centimeters tall with a slender physique. She has light brown eyes and reddish-brown hair, which originally was long but has been cut short in the back, falling just past her cheeks while still retaining her signature green hair-clip on the left side. She possesses two Stigmata, the embedded tissue of the alien Nova that grants a Pandora their powers, implanted on her back.
Kaho is generally an upbeat and energetic individual, approaching life at the academy with a positive and confident attitude. This confidence extends to her abilities as a Pandora; she is not easily intimidated and has stood her ground against armed thugs without flinching. However, she is also highly aware of the strict social hierarchy at West Genetics and respects the superior power and status of upperclassmen, rarely challenging the established order. Despite her outgoing nature, Kaho possesses a notable sense of modesty, demonstrated by her choice of conservative nightwear and her visible embarrassment when forced into vulnerable situations, such as being disrobed by an opponent during training or by thugs in the city. She can be cautious around more intimidating figures, like the infamous Satellizer L. Bridget, believing the rumors circulating about the so-called "Untouchable Queen".
In the story, Kaho serves as an early friend and guide for the protagonist, Kazuya Aoi. She introduces him to the school's cafeteria and its culture, proud of the privileged status Pandoras enjoy as humanity's defenders. Her primary motivation, especially in early arcs, is to protect Kazuya from the potential danger she believes is posed by Satellizer, consistently warning him to keep his distance for his own safety. Despite her warnings, she remains a loyal friend, supporting him even when he chooses a path she considers reckless. She is also on friendly terms with their mutual classmate, Arthur Crypton. Her concern often leads her to act impulsively, such as when she physically intervened to stop Kazuya from participating in a dangerous duel, and she later acts as an observer and narrator of key events, explaining the tragic backstory of the third-year student Ingrid Bernstein to Kazuya and others.
As the story progresses, Kaho remains a part of the central group of first-year characters, providing moral support and reacting to the extraordinary events unfolding around Kazuya and Satellizer. Her initial caution towards Satellizer softens as she witnesses the events and Kazuya's unwavering dedication. During the Rana Introductory Arc, her confidence in her own combat skills is put to the test. She willingly enters a fight to defend Kazuya from bullying upperclassmen but is easily defeated, showing the gap in ability between first-years and more experienced Pandoras. She also displays significant bravery and loyalty when she and her friends are confronted by thugs in the city. Even when outmatched, she shows no fear and is prepared to fight, only surrendering when Arthur is taken hostage. She endures the humiliation of being forced to strip and being shot in the legs, demonstrating her resilience under duress.
Regarding her notable abilities, Kaho wields a Volt Weapon in the form of two Tantō swords, which are short blades of about 91 centimeters in length. She possesses sufficient skill and confidence to confront multiple opponents, but her actual combat experience is limited compared to the more prominent fighters at the academy. Being a first-year, she does not have a Limiter partner at the beginning of the series, as only second-year students and above are permitted to form these pairs. Her main contributions therefore lie more in her role as a steadfast friend and her representation of a typical, eager new Pandora navigating a dangerous and politically complex environment.
