Description
Charles Dunois is a significant character who first appears as a transfer student at the IS Academy. Officially, Charles is introduced as the French representative candidate and, more notably, as the second male in the world capable of piloting an Infinite Stratos, following the protagonist Ichika Orimura. This initial presentation is a carefully constructed facade, as Charles Dunois is, in reality, a young woman named Charlotte Dunois. She is the daughter of the chairman of Dunois, the world's third-largest IS manufacturer, and is a privateer, born to a mistress of her father.
Charlotte's motivations at the time of her introduction are not born from personal ambition but from familial pressure. Her father’s company is facing a dire crisis, and he orders her to masquerade as a male student named Charles.
