Description
Keta no Miko, also known as Sakana-chan, is a character from the anime Star Driver who serves as one of the shrine maidens of Cross Island. She is introduced as a girl with an outwardly pure and frail appearance, possessing a distinctive, eccentric personality often described as being an "electric wave" type, which means she tends to speak and act in a manner that feels disconnected from ordinary social norms. Her background is tied directly to the island's mystical defenses; she was the first of the maidens to be captured by the Glittering Cross organization, which resulted in the unsealing of the seal she was meant to protect. Following her capture, she was kept imprisoned in a cage and placed under the supervision of the leader of the Cross's First Unit, becoming a captive audience and conversation partner for a character named Hyde. Her primary role within the story is closely linked to the activation of the mecha battles. Each episode, her act of singing serves as the specific signal that a battle is about to begin, making her a consistent symbolic presence throughout the series. Her motivations are not explicitly driven by personal ambition; instead, her situation is largely passive, defined by her imprisonment and her function as a catalyst for the conflicts on the island. Her key relationship is with her captor, Hyde, who uses her as a sounding board, establishing a dynamic where she is both a prisoner and a strange confidante. Over the course of the narrative, her situation undergoes a significant change in the eighth episode, when she is released from her cage by Hyde and subsequently departs from South Cross Island. This departure marks the end of her direct role in the unfolding events. Regarding her notable abilities, the most prominent is her singing voice, which directly triggers the commencement of the cybody battles, a unique power tied to her status as a shrine maiden. Beyond this specific function, no other extraordinary abilities are highlighted. Her primary characteristic remains her ethereal and otherworldly demeanor, combined with her function as a living key for the island's central conflicts.
