Description
Nicholas de Carlo, commonly called Nick, is a supporting character in the anime Heroman. He is a school-age boy with short brown hair and black eyes. Nick is the best friend of William Davis, often called Will, and the two are frequently seen together. Despite this close friendship, Nick also bullies Joey, the protagonist of the series, and can be arrogant, selfish, and cowardly in his behavior. He comes from a wealthy background and tends to place little value on material objects, assuming that anything broken can simply be replaced.
Nick's most consequential action in the story occurs before the main plot: he originally owned the Heybo toy that later becomes Heroman. After the toy was hit by a car, Nick decided it was not worth repairing and threw it away, intending to buy a new one. This discarded Heybo is later found by Joey, who repairs and ultimately activates it, leading to the creation of Heroman. Because of this, Nick's casual disposal of the toy sets in motion the central events of the series, even though he himself does not become a hero.
Throughout the series, Nick remains a minor character whose primary role is to interact with Will and to serve as a source of minor antagonism toward Joey. His motivations stem from a comfortable, privileged life that makes him dismissive of things he no longer considers useful. He does not undergo significant character development, and his personality remains largely static. His notable ability is not a special power or skill; rather, his most defining trait is his influence on the story through the Heybo he abandoned.
