Description
Luigi Yoshida is a central attacking midfielder for East Tokyo United, known on the pitch by the name Gino and referred to as the Prince by his teammates, a title he himself insists upon. He is twenty six years old, stands one hundred eighty six centimeters tall, weighs sixty four kilograms, and wears the number ten jersey. He is of half Japanese and half Italian descent. His personality is marked by a pronounced narcissistic and arrogant attitude, and he has a habit of assigning nicknames and diminutives to his teammates, calling Akasaki his guard dog and Tsubaki his stupid hunting dog. Despite his outward vanity, his playmaking ability is genuinely ingenious, and he is admired for the quality of his long distance passes and his ability to change the flow of the game. He has a personal fondness for Maserati cars. Within the story, Luigi is the offensive centerpiece of ETU, but under the management of Takeshi Tatsumi he begins to evolve from a player who previously preferred to touch the ball as little as possible into a true playmaker who orchestrates attacks. He has openly stated that he finds Tatsumis tactics to be fun, and this shift in his approach may also be connected to the emergence of Akasaki and Tsubaki as effective partners on the field. Luigi had been on the team with Akasaki for two years but only began to truly notice him during a training camp when Akasaki began to assert himself more forcefully. He also claims to enjoy sending passes to Tsubaki. In contrast, Luigi has a strained relationship with Natsuki, at times refusing to pass the ball to him because he believes every pass he sends to the forwards represents the effort that his teammates have poured into winning the ball, and he dislikes passing to Natsuki when he shoots selfishly or mishandles the ball without regard for the team rhythm. Luigi is notable for his high technical skill, his creative vision as a playmaker, and his development from a player who coasted on natural talent into one who actively engages with the strategic side of the game.
