TV-Series
Description
Mary Anne Hamilton is the daughter of Earl Hamilton, making her a member of a wealthy and respected noble family. She grew up as a childhood friend of Francis Harcourt, and the two share a long history together. Francis regards her as an important friend, but Mary Anne desires a deeper romantic relationship with him. Her feelings for Francis are strong, and she becomes possessive of him. When she sees Francis escorting Nadja Applefield, she grows intensely jealous. This jealousy leads her to create minor obstacles for Nadja, particularly concerning Nadja's interactions with Francis. Mary Anne is not a major antagonist like some other characters in the story, but her actions do contribute to the romantic tension and challenges Nadja faces. Her primary motivation is to protect her bond with Francis and prevent anyone else from taking her place in his life. Over the course of the series, Mary Anne does not undergo substantial personal development; she largely remains defined by her unreciprocated romantic attachment and her jealousy. She does not possess any special abilities or skills that stand out, as her influence comes from her social standing and her emotional connection to Francis. Her role in the narrative is that of a rival for Francis's affection, serving as an obstacle in Nadja's love life.
