Description
Chiaki Ogaki is a spirited high school student at Motosu High and co-founder of the Outdoor Activities Club with her friend Aoi Inuyama. Childhood family camping trips, filled with curry meals and nights under the stars, sparked her enduring passion for the outdoors and motivated her to create the club for regular adventures.
With fair skin, brown eyes, and distinctive long bluish-purple hair, Chiaki initially wore it in twin ponytails with very short bangs; Aoi later trimmed it to a medium shoulder-length style. She consistently wears large, black-rimmed rectangular wire-frame glasses. Her outdoor gear includes black leggings, reddish-brown boots, and a large dark-blue coat, while her school uniform adheres to the standard winter seifuku design.
Energetic, playful, and friendly, Chiaki often acts as the group's mood-maker. She charges ahead impulsively and recklessly at times, leading to comical mishaps like overseasoned skillets or failed homemade sausages. Highly budget-conscious, she avoids expensive purchases, sometimes reacting to high prices with a nosebleed, and constantly seeks affordable or improvised camping solutions. Despite her enthusiasm, she possesses limited stamina, tiring faster than her peers during hikes or bike rides.
Initially rejecting Nadeshiko Kagamihara's club application due to space limitations, Chiaki accepted her upon learning four members secured a larger room. She actively recruited Rin Shima and Ena Saito, though both initially declined; Rin eventually became a close friend. Chiaki uses nicknames, calling Aoi "Inuko" and Aoi's sister Akari "Chibi Inuko."
A decade after high school, depicted in a movie, Chiaki works promoting tourism for Yamanashi Prefecture after leaving an event management job in Kyoto. She spearheads a project to regenerate a disused site in Takaori, reuniting her high school friends. During this period, she develops a fondness for alcohol, reminiscent of her former teacher Minami Toba. In a key incident, she drunkenly drags Rin to the project site via taxi after Rin suggests converting it into a campsite, then texts invitations to Nadeshiko, Aoi, and Ena.
The discovery of Jōmon-period earthenware at Takaori halts the campsite project as the area becomes a designated historic site. Collaborating with her friends, Chiaki revises the plan, creating a promotional video that ultimately gains approval. The campsite opens on October 2, with Chiaki attending the inauguration.
Chiaki is the only main character whose immediate family remains unseen. She held a part-time job at Kawamoto Liquors’ Minobu branch, referencing a real-life store closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her birthday is August 31, and she ranked fifth in a 2021 series popularity poll. Her given name combines "thousand" (千) with terms like "clear" or "autumn" (秋), while her surname Ōgaki means "big fence" and references Ōgaki City in Gifu Prefecture.
