Description
Nama is a sentient suit of living armor who first appears in the anime series Slayers Evolution-R. Her existence is the result of a magical accident: she was once a human treasure hunter who discovered a peculiar jar, which turned out to be one of the Hellmaster's jars. Upon touching it, her soul was forcibly transferred into a nearby suit of female armor, and she lost all memory of her former life. After the transfer, she wandered into the catacombs beneath the castle of the Marquise Gioconda, where she spent her days singing alone until she was discovered by Lina Inverse and her companions.

In her armored form, Nama's personality is generally lighthearted, cheerful, and somewhat childlike. She often speaks of herself in the third person and can be naïve and innocent. However, she exhibits a dual personality: during moments of stress, anger, or when her memories briefly resurface, her demeanor shifts dramatically. Her voice deepens, and she becomes arrogant, aggressive, and uncontrollable, accompanied by a loud, distinctive laugh that is notably similar to that of the sorceress Naga the Serpent. This shift is believed to be a temporary return of her original personality. She has a strong sensitivity to the sight of blood and a visceral hatred of assassins, likely tied to her buried past.

Nama’s main motivation throughout the series is to recover the Hellmaster's jar that contains her soul, hoping to restore her memories and return to her original body. She joins Lina's group as a guide after a brief skirmish, though her faulty memory leads them through many dead ends. Her role in the story is that of a temporary ally and a source of comic relief, but also a key to the mystery of the jars.

Key relationships include a complicated dynamic with Lina Inverse, who finds Nama irritating and strangely familiar; Lina even remarks that Nama reminds her of someone, and she reacts to her with the same exasperation she once showed toward Naga. Nama forms a sisterly bond with Amelia Wil Tesla Saillune, telling Amelia that she reminds her of her younger self and that Amelia is like a sister to her. She is also acquainted with Xellos, who appears to know her true identity and is surprised that she has lost her memories.

Nama undergoes development as the story progresses. When the group finally locates the correct jar in a set of ruins, they are ambushed by the assassin Zuuma. Upon recognizing him as a killer, Nama's violent alternate personality fully takes over, and she desperately tries to destroy him, even summoning a powerful demonic dragon. Ultimately, Xellos destroys the jar, allowing Nama's soul to return to her original human body, which is found hidden inside a box of mandarin oranges. After this, she is implied to have regained her true identity, though the series does not explicitly confirm her name.

Nama possesses considerable magical abilities. She is skilled in shamanistic magic, particularly water-based spells, and can also use black magic such as Dynast Breath. Her most notable spell is Gu Ru Duga, which allows her to summon a Deimos dragon. She can also perform the Pacifist Crash, a signature technique of the Saillune royal family. Her armor itself is magically resistant, capable of withstanding even a direct Dragon Slave from Lina. Additionally, she can disassemble her armor into individual pieces, moving them independently to navigate through tight spaces or launch spells from separate locations. Her physical sensations persist despite her artificial body, as she can still feel pain and disorientation.
