Description
Alice Eve is a central figure in the world of Black Blood Brothers, known as the progenitor of the Sage Eve bloodline, one of the oldest and most revered vampire lineages. She is often referred to with the honorific title of the Sage Eve and is regarded as one of the oldest progenitors, having lived for several millennia through a continuous cycle of death and reincarnation. Physically, she is an adult female with blue eyes and shoulder-length blonde hair.

In terms of background, Alice Eve is a vampire of immense age and significance. Her bloodline possesses a unique trait: the ability to absorb the characteristics and powers of any vampire whose blood she drinks. However, this power comes with a profound and tragic condition. When Alice Eve dies, she is reborn from her own ashes as a new individual. Upon this reincarnation, she loses all the abilities she had acquired from other bloodlines, as well as all the memories accumulated over her thousands of years of existence. This cycle of death and rebirth defines her existence. Her role in the story is deeply intertwined with that of the protagonist, Jiro Mochizuki. In 1895 in London, she encountered Jiro, then a young Imperial Japanese Navy lieutenant, and was drawn to him. She turned him into a vampire, transforming him into Jiro of the Dark Blood, and in doing so, she became his sire and his lover, referred to as his dark mother.

Personality and motivations can be inferred from her unique position and powers. Because her bloodline can absorb traits from others, and because she must maintain neutrality to avoid upsetting the balance of the night world, she is feared and revered by all vampires. She is a figure who commands both terror and awe but is bound by a destiny to remain absolutely neutral while being connected to every bloodline. This constant exposure to the political machinations of other vampire clans is her burden. Her primary motivation, as dictated by her bloodline, is to maintain this absolute neutrality, even as she is perpetually targeted for her power.

Key relationships are paramount to her character. Her most significant relationship is with Jiro Mochizuki. As his creator and lover, she has bound him to a specific duty. Alice Eve is not permitted to have more than one member in her own bloodline; the chosen individual is called the guardian. When she is on the verge of death, her guardian, who in this case is Jiro, must drink her blood to temporarily hold her powers and memories. After she reincarnates in a vulnerable state, the guardian then returns these powers and memories by offering their own blood, thereby becoming a part of the Sage Eve. This cycle defines their bond.

Development for Alice Eve is inherently tied to her reincarnation cycle. Each time she dies and is reborn, she loses all the memories and accumulated powers of her past lives, making her a new being in many ways, though her core role as the Sage Eve remains. Her notable abilities are among the most unique in the setting. As the progenitor of the Sage Eve line, she can acquire the abilities and traits of any other vampire bloodline by drinking their blood, though this also means she inherits their weaknesses. This power makes her the ultimate prize in the vampire world, as becoming a part of her by having one's blood drunk is considered the highest honor for any vampire. However, this power is transient, resetting upon her death. Her ability to reincarnate from her ashes makes her virtually unkillable, but it leaves her temporarily helpless and dependent on her guardian. This combination of immense adaptive power and profound cyclical vulnerability defines her existence.
