TV-Series
Description
Kidd Coega is a supporting character in Gurren Lagann who joins the human resistance force known as Team Dai-Gurren. He is first introduced during the war against the Beastmen, the army of the Spiral King, and later participates in the conflict against the Anti-Spirals. Kidd is the brother of fellow Team Dai-Gurren member Iraak Coega, and the two often fight alongside one another.

As a member of the team, Kidd is known for his brash and daring personality, often displaying a competitive edge. He possesses a strong sense of camaraderie and contributes to the group's morale and unity. In battle, Kidd pilots a unique Gunmen named Kidd Knuckle. This mecha is designed to resemble a monkey and is equipped with two pistols as its primary weapons, allowing him to attack enemies from a distance. After a seven-year timeskip, during which humanity has built a new society on the surface, Kidd serves on the council of Kamina City alongside other major members of the team. His appearance during this period changes notably, bearing a striking resemblance to the character Lupin III.

Kidd's role in the story is that of a loyal and steadfast soldier. He follows the leadership of Simon and the other commanders of Team Dai-Gurren without question. His key relationship is with his brother Iraak, and their partnership extends to their combat tactics. During the final arc of the story, when Team Dai-Gurren takes the fight into space against the Anti-Spirals, Kidd and Iraak work together in an attempt to avenge the death of their comrade Zorthy. However, this attack proves fatal, and Kidd is killed during the first deep space battle. In the series' feature film compilation, The Lights in the Sky are Stars, Kidd's abilities are expanded upon. He manifests a colossal, galaxy-sized mecha called Tengen Toppa Kidknuckle, which fights with a staff and can fire powerful lasers. This form draws visual inspiration from the mythological figure Sun Wukong, the Monkey King. In the epilogue of the series, a memorial in the form of a sword is erected to honor Kidd alongside the other fallen heroes of Team Dai-Gurren.
