Description
Dari Adai is a girl from Adai Village, an isolated underground settlement. She is the younger twin sister of Gimmy Adai, and the two are orphans who were cared for by Rossiu Adai. Their parents are never shown and are presumed to have been exiled or died, which is a common fate in their village due to strict population control measures. The twins are chosen to be sent to the surface according to village law, prompting Rossiu to leave with them and join Team Gurren.
When first introduced, Darry is a very shy, reserved young girl who barely speaks, in stark contrast to her more outgoing and impulsive brother. She is always seen clinging to a plush doll and tends to remain in the background. After a seven-year timeskip following humanity's victory over the Spiral King, Darry has undergone a significant personality change. She emerges as a much more confident teenager, though she remains less talkative than Gimmy. In this later period, she is portrayed as the more rational and perceptive of the two siblings. She is careful, calm, and puts more thought and planning into her actions, often scolding her brother when he is not careful enough.
Darry's initial motivation is simply survival, as she follows her brother and Rossiu to the surface. As she grows, she becomes dedicated to protecting humanity and fighting alongside Team Dai-Gurren. In the epilogue, she is seen not only as a commander of the Grapearl squad but also as one of the new pilots of Gurren Lagann alongside her brother, indicating her motivation to carry on the legacy of her heroes.
