Description
Darry Adai is a supporting protagonist from Adai Village, where she was born as an orphan alongside her twin brother, Gimmy Adai. Her name is derived from the Japanese word hidari, which means left. When the population of her village grew too large, she and her brother were among those chosen to be sent away to the surface, a fate from which they were rescued by Rossiu Adai, who chose to accompany them into exile. The siblings were subsequently taken in by Team Dai-Gurren.

In her first appearance as a young child, Darry has a very shy and reserved personality, in stark contrast to her more energetic and impulsive brother. She is not very talkative and tends to stay in the background during the group's early adventures, often serving as a form of comic relief alongside her brother. A defining trait during this period is her attachment to a plush doll, which she is almost always seen holding.

Following a seven-year time skip, Darry matures into a teenager who has undergone a significant transformation. As a young woman, she has grown much more confident and has become a highly capable soldier. Though she remains less talkative than Gimmy, she is portrayed as the more rational and perceptive of the two, often scolding her brother when he is not careful. She is a brave individual who puts a lot of thought into her actions during battle, showing that she has developed into a skilled and level-headed pilot.

As a teenager, Darry joins the Grapearl Army of Kamina City, piloting a custom-model Grapearl mech, which is pink in contrast to Gimmy's blue unit. Her role in the story becomes much more prominent during the final battle against the Anti-Spiral. She and Gimmy take part in the space battles, where her quick thinking saves her brother when she shoots down an enemy attacking him. She demonstrates her deep attachment to her comrades when she bursts into tears following the sacrifice of Jorgun and Balinbow, who give their lives to save her and her brother.

Her primary relationship is with her twin brother, Gimmy, with whom she shares a very strong bond. They are virtually inseparable throughout the series, first as children following Team Dai-Gurren and later as pilots fighting side-by-side. Rossiu Adai, who cared for them in Adai Village, also serves as an important figure from her past. In the epilogue of the series, set twenty years after the final battle, Darry is seen not only as a commander of the Grapearl squad but also as one of the new pilots of the legendary Gunmen, Gurren Lagang, which she co-pilots with her brother.
