Description
Flight Lieutenant Takami Karibuchi is a Fuso naval witch, older sister to Hikari Karibuchi, and celebrated as the "Hero of Sasebo" for her actions in the Battle of Libau. Recognized for her magic eye ability, she joined the 502nd Joint Fighter Wing. During transit to the unit, she suffered grave injuries shielding a fleet from a Neuroi attack, leading to complete magical exhaustion and a life-threatening state stabilized only by emergency aid. She remained comatose for three months before awakening in Fuso. Treatment by Yoshika Miyafuji enabled her recovery. Takami temporarily rejoined the 502nd JFW for the Grigori Hive operation before transferring to the newly formed 508th Joint Fighter Wing under Squadron Leader Shindou, who understood her skills and personality from their shared service in Libau.

Cheerful and focused on squad cohesion, Takami maintains a positive demeanor in adversity, interacts easily regardless of rank, and prioritizes resolving problems to preserve team harmony. She demonstrates exceptional bravery and precision in combat. Privately, she supports Hikari's choice to become a witch but conceals deep concern for her sister's safety, preferring Hikari avoid frontline duties. Her post-war aspiration involves global travel using her striker unit, "Chidori."

Takami's primary magical ability is a "magic eye" enabling Neuroi core detection, functioning like infrared thermography without physical contact. Her secondary ability, "Absolute Eye," temporarily enhances perception, analysis, and targeting, allowing simultaneous identification of multiple Neuroi cores. Activation turns her hair and eyes red but demands immense magical energy, drastically weakens defensive shields, and requires stationary positioning, leaving her vulnerable. Drawbacks include reduced accuracy without extensive target study, difficulty against complex core structures, and severe stamina depletion. Its risks make unsupported use near-suicidal.

Her equipment includes a Solothurn S-18/100 20mm anti-tank rifle, noted for recoil and size but wielded effectively during aerial maneuvers. Initially piloting the Shiden Model 11 "Chidori" carrier-modified prototype striker, it was reassigned to Hikari after Takami's injury. Post-recovery, she transitioned to a mass-production Shiden Kai model, retaining visual similarities to Chidori.

Character development stems from her injury and recovery. The coma and Yoshika Miyafuji's treatment resolved her discharge status and facilitated her return to Europe. Reassignment to the 508th JFW highlighted her adaptability to naval operations despite prior ground-forces focus. Reuniting with Hikari in St. Petersburg underscored their enduring emotional bond and mutual dedication to aerial defense. Her Libau experience provided familiarity with conventional artillery systems.
