Description
Jean Marais Dermaille is an antagonist in Dance in the Vampire Bund who serves as the heir to the Juneau vampire lineage. He is a French vampire with green eyes and blond hair that reaches his neck, presenting the appearance of an adult male. His role in the story is defined by his opposition to Mina Tepes, the princess-ruler of all vampires, and her vision for peaceful coexistence between vampires and humans.

Dermaille is responsible for orchestrating a series of attacks on a school, where he forcibly turned several students, including individuals named Nanami and Hikosaka, into vampires. He also manipulated a character named Mizoguchi to dissolve the assembly, furthering his own agenda. These actions are part of a larger conspiracy orchestrated by a terrorist organization called Telomere, of which Dermaille is a member.

Dermailles personality is marked by arrogance, disrespect for tradition, and a deep-seated hatred for werewolves, whom he wishes to see exterminated. He holds no respect for his own father, whom he dismisses as a figure of the past. His primary motivation is not to conquer the human world but to create a new world order ruled by younger vampires, believing he is building an army in service to Queen Mina. He fundamentally misinterprets Mina's intentions, as she does not share his desire for a segregated vampire-dominated world and instead wishes for her kind to become a part of human society.

In terms of abilities, as a vampire, Dermaille possesses the power to transform and is capable of turning humans into vampires. His primary human ally is a collaborator named Takashi Saijo, who aids him in his schemes.

The climax of Dermailles role occurs when Mina Tepes confronts him directly in a chapel. She expresses her disappointment in him for turning students into vampires and slashes a sword across his face as punishment. During the ensuing fight, Mina severs his arm after he transforms. Dermaille briefly gains the upper hand by grabbing hold of Mina, using a distraction provided by Saijo. However, the protagonist Akira intervenes, tearing out Dermailles heart, which causes him to vanish and results in his death.
