Description
Dia is the fourth and final Guardian Character belonging to Amu Hinamori, representing the radiance that emits from within Amu's heart and her hidden desire to be an idol like Utau Hoshina. Her egg bears the diamond suit symbol, and her name itself is a shortening of the word diamond. Unlike Amu's other Guardian Characters, Dia is considered to be exceptionally powerful and typically only uses her abilities when truly necessary. She is a unique existence, often described as someone who is always there when she is needed the most. Her egg first appeared when Amu was struggling to understand her true self and subsequently became a corrupted X Egg. This egg was collected during one of Utau's concerts, and when it hatched, it gave birth to X-Dia, a corrupted version of her true self. In this state, she temporarily sided with Utau, allowing her to perform a Character Transformation into Dark Jewel. It was only during a final confrontation between Utau and Amu that the true Dia emerged. Amu confessed that she had many flaws, but that she realized these flaws were a part of who she was, and that she could shine if she believed in herself. This heartfelt acceptance caused the X mark on Dia to vanish, and she returned to Amu, unlocking the Character Transformation of Amulet Diamond.
In her normal state, Dia has orange hair styled into long pigtails and golden yellow eyes, with a design that echoes the look of an idol. Her personality is generally calm, enigmatic, and wise, but she also possesses a happy and idol-like radiance. There are slight differences in her portrayal across different versions; while the anime tends to depict her as mature with a romantic and slightly sassy side, the manga hints at a more airheaded or even slightly spoiled personality, enjoying making things shine by adding decorations. Her corrupted form, X-Dia, was notably anti-social and cold, possessing yellow hair and hollow eyes. In this state, she could only see the flaws in others and refused to accept anyone she deemed without radiance. She initially believed Amu could never truly shine because of her imperfections.
Dia's primary motivation is intrinsically linked to her nature; she seeks out and loves the things that make people shine. Her initial disappointment in Amu stemmed from a perceived lack of this brilliant heart, which she temporarily found in Utau. Once she re-joins Amu, her role in the story becomes that of a powerful, last-resort ally. She re-emerges from her egg when Amu is in grave danger or needs to express a new level of strength, such as when combining her powers with Amu's other Guardian Characters to achieve the ultimate transformation, Amulet Fortune. Her relationship with Amu is one of deep connection; though she can be distant and only appears when radiance is shown, she is fiercely loyal once she recognizes Amu's true light. Her relationship with Utau was a temporary alliance born of her corrupted state, as Utau was not her true owner, making any transformations short-lived and draining. With the other Guardian Characters, Ran, Miki, and Su, she acts as a calming and mature presence, sometimes mediating their quarrels or offering a different perspective.

Her return to Amu signifies a major step in Amu's acceptance of herself. In the third anime season, Shugo Chara! Party!, Dia appears more regularly, engaging in lighthearted activities and short skits with the other Guardian Characters. In one instance, she works with Ran and Miki to form a superhero trio called Shugo Bomber to fight against imaginary X-Egg Empire villains. Dia also achieves a Character Change with Amu for the first time in this season, transforming Amu into a positive, shiny, and calm version of herself.
