TV-Series
Description
Hana-chan, whose full name is Hana Makihatayama, is a central character in the final season of her series, having first appeared as a miraculous baby born from the Blue Rose in the Witch World. Her birth marked her as the future Witch Queen, a destiny of immense importance that sets her apart from ordinary witches from the very beginning. By the time of Ojamajo Doremi DOKKAAN!, Hana is no longer an infant but has been magically transformed into an eleven-year-old girl, roughly the same age as her primary caretakers, to attend elementary school with them in the human world. This decision to rapidly age herself is driven by a deep sense of loneliness and a powerful longing to be with Doremi and the other girls, as she had grown tired of her isolated life in the Witch World.

In her new older form, Hana has fair skin and thick, lemon-yellow hair styled into low pigtails with a distinctive inward curl at the ends, tied with light hot pink scrunchies. Her bangs are short and fluffy, framing her large, rounded brown eyes. Her typical outfit consists of a simple white shirt with a flower design and loose, winged sleeves, paired with denim shorts that feature light hot pink heart-shaped pockets. She completes her look with light orange sneakers that have small pom-poms attached at the back. Despite her aged appearance, her personality retains the core traits of a young child. She is lively, energetic, and incredibly affectionate towards her friends, often acting on pure emotion and innocent curiosity. This combination of an older body and a childish mind frequently leads to humorous and chaotic situations, as she is prone to throwing tantrums when unhappy and can be selfish or rude without truly meaning any harm. She often refers to herself in the third person and has a habit of greeting people with "Chīsu!".

Hana’s role in the story is multifaceted. As the catalyst for the season's events, her powerful magic shatters her own crystals when she ages herself, requiring Doremi and her friends to support her journey to become a fully-fledged witch apprentice. She becomes the final and most unusual member of their group, taking her apprentice exams alongside Doremi’s younger sister, Pop. Her primary motivation is simple: to be close to the girls she considers her mothers—Doremi, Hazuki, Aiko, Onpu, and Momoko—whom she loves without reservation. Her relationship with Doremi is especially profound, viewing her as her primary mother; they share a similar personality and love for steak and television shows. While she loves Hazuki dearly, their interactions are often gentler and more subdued. With Aiko, who initially feared being a poor mother figure, Hana’s unconditional love helped forge a strong, if sometimes frustrated, bond. She shares special moments with the busy Onpu, and with Momoko, she had to build a relationship from scratch, eventually becoming good friends and classmates. Even with Pop, she has a sibling-like dynamic of both affection and rivalry.

Throughout Ojamajo Doremi DOKKAAN!, Hana's development is subtle but significant. Although she gains the body of a sixth-grader, her emotional maturity lags behind, and she must learn to navigate the complexities of human social interactions and responsibilities as a witch apprentice. Her magical abilities are shown to be extraordinarily powerful, as befits the future Witch Queen. She is a pure-blood witch with a natural aptitude for magic that often surpasses the other apprentices, and she is one of the few who can sometimes perform magic without reciting a spell. Her magical tool is a large white crystal ball, and her fairy companion is named Toto. Her signature spell incantation often ends with "Pororin Pyuarin Hanahana Pii!". Despite her immense innate power, she must learn control and responsibility, tackling her exams and facing the season's major threats, such as the black flowers that cause laziness and the awakening of the former Witch Queen, Majo Tourbillon. Her journey culminates in a powerful moment when, at her graduation from elementary school, she returns to the Witch World but promises to become Queen as quickly as possible so she can see her beloved friends again.
