TV-Series
Description
In the Kinnikuman universe, the character known as Blockman Jr. is more accurately and commonly referred to as Brocken Jr. He is the son of the infamous Nazi-themed brutal superhuman, Brockenman, and serves as a powerful example of a character who chooses a path of justice despite a dark lineage.
Brocken Jr. is a tall and muscular young man, standing 195 centimeters tall and weighing 90 kilograms, who bears a striking physical resemblance to his father, wearing a similar military uniform. His homeland is Berlin, West Germany, and he is noted to have been born on April 23rd. The Brocken family are unique as they are born human; a young man receives a Totenkopf, a skull badge, upon reaching adulthood, which transforms him into a superhuman. The mark of his superhuman body is the appearance of specific tattoos on his arms.
In contrast to his father, who was a brutal and sadistic fighter with aspirations of world domination, Brocken Jr. was raised as a justice superhuman. He embodies a young German spirit, fighting with pride and a strong sense of honor. While he can sometimes resort to the brutal style of his father, he never portrays or adheres to the Nazi beliefs associated with his father's image, which has been a point of significant controversy regarding the series. His personality is characterized as reserved, cold to outsiders, and passionate with a firm sense of justice, though in his youth he showed signs of immaturity and impulsiveness.
Initially, Brocken Jr. is driven by a singular motivation: revenge. His father was killed by the Chinese superhuman Ramenman, and Brocken Jr. enters the 21st Superhuman Olympics with the goal of avenging him. He battles Ramenman in a concrete ring and fights respectably but is ultimately defeated. However, in a pivotal moment for his character, the normally vicious Ramenman spares his life. Touched by this greatness, Brocken Jr. transforms his hatred into deep respect, and the two enter a teacher-student relationship, with Brocken Jr. becoming Ramenman's pupil.
Following this, Brocken Jr. becomes a steadfast ally to Kinnikuman and the other idol superhumans. He fights alongside them in many major conflicts, including battles against the Seven Devil Superhumans and the Golden Mask arc, where he has a brutal victory over a foe known as The Ninja. During the Dream Tag Tournament, he teams up with Wolfman to form the Most Dangerous Combo. One of his most significant roles comes during the Scramble for the Throne arc, where he surprises everyone by becoming the second-in-command on Team Soldier. In a crucial six-man tag match, he demonstrates profound selflessness by removing his Totenkopf badge, thereby losing his superhuman powers, to use his now-mortal body as a shield against an enemy attack. He ultimately sacrifices himself to eliminate an opponent, only to be revived later by Kinnikuman.
His key relationships are central to his story. The most important is his bond with Ramenman, which evolves from a vendetta to a profound friendship and mentorship. He also shares deep camaraderie with Kinnikuman and other heroes like Terryman, Robin Mask, and Warsman. In the sequel series, Kinnikuman Nisei, his character develops further. After the main story, he returns to Germany with no clear goal and becomes a drunkard. He eventually sobers up when he finds a new purpose as a teacher, becoming the mentor to an orphan superhuman named Jade, passing on his techniques and spirit.
Brocken Jr. possesses a formidable array of abilities, with his signature technique being the Red Rain of Berlin, a high-speed hand-blade attack that showers an opponent's blood. Other notable techniques include the Black Fog of Hamburg, a double-foot kick to the face; the Bremen Sunset, a diving headbutt; and the Killer Choujin Mist, a poisonous mist sprayed from the mouth inherited from his father. He is also proficient in various grappling maneuvers such as the Camel Clutch, German Suplex, and Piledriver. Furthermore, he has demonstrated the ability to learn and replicate his opponents' techniques, such as the Jungyaku Jizai no Jutsu from The Ninja.
