TV-Series
Description
Natsuko Shōno is a young reporter for the magazine Weekly Hero. She is an extroverted and social character who quickly forms close bonds with those around her. She becomes a good friend and supporter of Kinnikuman, often spending time with him and Meat, and she provides encouragement and assistance during his adventures. Her most significant relationship is with the American superhero Terryman, whom she meets and eventually falls in love with. She is intensely devoted to Terryman and is known for her possessive nature, sometimes physically confronting his female admirers. In the original manga and its sequel series, she marries Terryman and becomes the mother of their son, Terry the Kid.
Natsuko has a tomboyish appearance, typically wearing a newsboy cap, a camera around her neck, and casual clothing such as bell-bottoms and a tank top in early chapters, later switching to overalls and a sweater. She originally speaks in a Kansai dialect, though in the anime she mostly uses standard Japanese. Her personality is bold and outgoing, and she is not afraid to get involved in conflicts. She initially has an antagonistic relationship with Mari Nikaidou, but the two eventually become best friends. In the anime, their friendship is especially prominent.
Motivationally, Natsuko is driven by her career as a reporter and her deep affection for Terryman. She stands by the heroes and takes an active interest in their fights, cheering passionately from the sidelines. Her role in the story is primarily as a supporting character, providing emotional grounding and a civilian perspective. She also appears in the sequel series, where her past with Terryman is explored further. While she does not possess superhuman abilities, she is physically spirited and has been shown to engage in brawls when provoked. On one occasion, she was temporarily enlarged by a villain's scheme and rampaged through the city, but this is not a normal capability. Her notable traits are her loyalty, strong will, and her signature camera and cap, which she is rarely seen without.
