TV-Series
Description
Duero Mcfile is the ship doctor aboard the pirate vessel Nirvana. As the only licensed medical practitioner on board, his role becomes essential when the female pirates' own medical facilities fail to function after the ship merges with a male vessel. Despite initial objections from the female crew who are unaccustomed to having a man in their midst, Duero calmly asserts his professional expertise, assuring them that he poses no threat and effectively taking charge of all medical emergencies.
A product of the male-dominated planet Taraak, Duero is among its elite. His reputation is such that it is said he could secure any job he desired simply by submitting a blank resume with his name on it. In keeping with his status, he is typically a quiet, cool, and analytical character, constantly observing his surroundings and making calculated judgments about events. His primary driving force is a deep-seated intellectual curiosity, with a particular fascination for the structure of the human body. This zeal for his work can sometimes manifest as an almost abnormal enthusiasm when encountering injuries or medical anomalies. However, his strictly academic background on Taraak means his knowledge is initially limited to male physiology, and life on the Nirvana forces him to expand his understanding to include women, often leading to surprising discoveries.
While Duero is a genius in his field, he shows vulnerability when confronted with situations outside his formal education. A key example of this is when Ezra goes into labor, and the inexperienced doctor is forced to coach the equally unprepared Hibiki and Dita through the delivery process, revealing an awkward and confused side beneath his professional exterior. His analytical nature proves critical to the ship's journey, as he makes an important discovery regarding Hibiki's true heritage.
Duero's relationships are defined by the unusual circumstances of the Nirvana. His most significant connection is with Parfait, the first woman he works closely with. Their professional relationship deepens into close friendship and eventually develops into a mutual romantic attraction. His physical appearance is notable; he fits the bishonen archetype, characterized by long black hair and a feature that becomes a recurring visual motif. The right side of his face is perpetually hidden by his hair, a detail explicitly acknowledged near the end of the second stage when crewmate Paiway sneaks a look. The audience never sees what she saw, but her satisfied reaction suggests his hidden features are quite handsome.
In terms of abilities, beyond his formal medical training, Duero proves to be a capable engineer contributing to the ship's operations. His physical dimensions are recorded as 188cm in height and weighing 76kg, with a birth date of March 16. His presence on the Nirvana shifts from that of an intruder to an indispensable asset, whose calm demeanor and medical skills serve as a stabilizing force among a chaotic crew of male and female pirates learning to coexist.
