Description
Amelia Wil Tesla Saillune is the second princess of the kingdom of Saillune, a realm renowned as a center for white magic. As the younger daughter of Crown Prince Philionel, she holds a position of royalty, though she rarely uses her status for personal gain, preferring to be judged on her own merits as a budding sorceress and champion of justice. Her family history is marked by tragedy; her mother was murdered when she was very young, and her older sister, Gracia, disappeared from the kingdom shortly afterward, events that have profoundly shaped her worldview. It is widely hinted, and later confirmed by the series creator, that her missing sister is actually Naga the Serpent, a powerful sorceress known from other installments of the franchise.

Personality is the most defining aspect of Amelia's character. She is famously a self-proclaimed champion of justice, a passion she inherited and amplified from her father. She is intensely idealistic, viewing the world in stark terms of good versus evil, and she is driven by an unwavering desire to protect the innocent and vanquish wrongdoers. This often manifests in her delivering long, passionate, and dramatic speeches about truth and justice, typically from the highest vantage point she can find, such as a rooftop or a statue, only to lose her balance and fall flat on her face moments later. Despite her clumsiness and occasional naivety, she is deeply kind-hearted, compassionate, and fiercely loyal to her friends. Her initial, overly simplistic view of morality leads her to be easily deceived by those who appear heroic and suspicious of those who do not, a flaw she struggles with and gradually overcomes.

In the story of Slayers Revolution, Amelia continues her adventures alongside the primary cast. Her role often involves acting as a moral compass and a voice of reason, though her methods are sometimes as chaotic as those she seeks to correct. She is dispatched on a mission to find Lina Inverse, who has been accused of a crime, accompanied by Zelgadis Greywords, who acts as her bodyguard, and a government inspector. As the plot unfolds, the original mission becomes secondary to confronting a larger threat, and Amelia participates in the defense of her kingdom against powerful adversaries, demonstrating her growth from a tag-along princess to a capable leader and combatant.

Her key relationships are central to her development. Her bond with Lina Inverse is particularly important; while she initially idolizes Lina and wishes to learn from her, their friendship matures into a genuine, sister-like connection where they support and bicker with each other as equals. Her relationship with the chimera Zelgadis Greywords is a significant subplot. Although she is initially frightened by his monstrous appearance, she quickly sees the good heart within, and she develops strong romantic feelings for him as the series progresses, becoming a source of light and optimism that tempers his cynical nature. Her father, Philionel, remains a hugely influential figure in her life. Despite his fearsome strength and paradoxical "Pacifist Crush" attacks, he shares her love of justice, and their bond is one of mutual admiration and deep affection.

Throughout the series, Amelia undergoes noticeable development. She starts as a somewhat scatterbrained and inexperienced girl who cannot always distinguish true heroes from villains. Through her travels and the influence of her more worldly friends, she becomes more grounded, less judgmental, and more effective in her quest for justice. She learns that the world is not simply black and white, a crucial step in her maturation from an idealistic child into a principled young woman. Her experiences, including confronting conspiracies against her family and facing world-threatening demons, force her to grow beyond her sheltered upbringing.

Notable abilities are a key part of her contribution to the group. As a princess of Saillune, she is a highly skilled practitioner of white magic, specializing in healing and purification spells. She is also well-trained in shamanistic magic, particularly astral shamanism, which is effective against spiritual beings and demons. Her signature offensive spell is the powerful Ra Tilt, which she refers to as her "killer spell". Furthermore, she has developed her own unique spell, Visfarank, which manifests magical energy around her fists, allowing her to engage in physical combat with a style reminiscent of boxing. This combination of healing, spiritual attack, and close-quarters fighting makes her a versatile and invaluable member of the team.
