Masami Suzuki
Description
Masami Suzuki is a Japanese actress, voice actress, and singer. She was born on July 14, 1972, in Chigasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, and is currently affiliated with Aoni Production. She began her career after training at the Yoyogi Animation College.
Suzuki's debut role in 1994 was the title character in the anime series Akazukin Chacha (Lil' Red Riding Hood Cha-Cha), which launched her career. She gained widespread recognition for her long-running role as Amelia Wil Tesla Seyruun in the Slayers franchise, a part she has played across multiple television series, OVAs, and films from 1995 onwards. This role remains one of her most iconic performances.
Throughout her career, she has built an extensive filmography, taking on a wide variety of characters. In the long-running series One Piece, she has voiced multiple characters, including Aisa in the Skypiea arc and young Zee in One Piece Film Z, as well as Apis and various other roles. She is also known for her work as Sho Marufuji (Syrus Truesdale) in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, Ayako Matsuzaki in Ghost Hunt, and Kaihime in the Samurai Warriors video game and anime series. Other notable roles include Nina Mercury in Lost Universe, Kikuhime and Brass in the Medarot and Medarot Damashii series, and Yuuko Kawai in Aqua Age.
Suzuki's voice has also appeared in major franchises such as Rurouni Kenshin, where she played a young Kenshin (Shinta), and Pokémon. She has been a recurring presence in the long-running children's series Shimajiro, voicing Nyakkii Momoyama in several films and the television series. Her other roles include Sorincha in the short film Kakurenbo, Erutron in Starship Girl Yamamoto Yohko, Natsumi Harie in Koe de Oshigoto!, Pedal in Live On Cardliver Kakeru, and Maguro Hōjiro in Penguin Girl. She also voiced Sebastian in the Massugu ni Ikō: Melon Pan-hen series.
In addition to voice acting, Suzuki has worked as a singer, releasing the album Heavenly in 1995, and has performed in stage musicals with the group PinkRainbow. She has also contributed to the next generation of talent as a lecturer at institutions like the Nihon Geijutsu Fachschule and the Osaka University of Arts College.
