TV-Series
Description
Eri Aikawa is a supporting character in the series, known for her role as the dedicated and often frazzled editor for the famous novelist Akihiko Usami. She works for Marukawa Publishing, the company that releases Usami's literary works.
In her late twenties to early thirties, Aikawa is a woman of average height with brown hair that is typically styled with bangs swept to the side, and she has dark blue or gray-blue eyes. Her appearance is polished and professional; she is considered a beautiful woman who often wears light-colored blouses, long skirts, and high heels, with red lipstick as a consistent part of her look.
On the surface, Aikawa presents herself as a well-mannered, calm, and kind professional. However, her personality undergoes a dramatic shift when Usami fails to meet his manuscript deadlines. In these frequent situations, she is known for becoming highly anxious, frantic, and even physically aggressive in her efforts to retrieve his work, with one notable instance involving her shaking an ill and unconscious Usami while demanding he finish his novel. Beyond her work-related stress, she is generally an energetic and cheerful person, though she is also known to frequently lament her single status and lack of a romantic partner.
Aikawa's primary role in the story is as Usami's editor, which makes her a recurring presence in the lives of the main characters. Her job is to oversee his production schedule, a task made difficult by his habit of procrastinating and missing submission dates. Her relationship with Usami extends beyond a simple professional one; she is also a trusted friend. Because of this, Usami has given her a spare key to his apartment, allowing her to enter to deliver or retrieve manuscripts as needed. This close relationship initially causes a misunderstanding for Misaki Takahashi, Usami's partner, who briefly feels jealous and suspects a romantic connection between them.
Over time, Aikawa develops a warm and friendly relationship with Misaki as well. She is often seen bringing him pastries or food when she visits. She becomes a strong supporter of the relationship between Usami and Misaki, acting as a confidante who encourages Misaki and is portrayed as a classic fan of their romance. She was also the first person to deduce the true nature of their relationship without being formally told. Her positive regard for Misaki leads her to encourage him to seek employment at Marukawa Publishing.
Aikawa does not undergo a significant personal transformation but remains a consistent and comedic supporting figure. Her notable abilities lie in her professional competence as an editor, which is contrasted with her apparent helplessness in her personal life, particularly regarding romance. Despite the chaos caused by Usami's writing habits, she is portrayed as effective at her job, having been his first and only editor at Marukawa since his debut.
